But I’ve never been more sure that its over for JB. This is a young team but they don’t only look lost, they look like they have zero guidance/coaching.

Fran spent the last 10 mins slamming the state of our program.

Its just bad. Can’t support this staff even slightly anymore. Its a disservice to the student athletes.

When Hopkins left, we still should have had a transition plan in place. Not fair to the fans and players to have this be the state of our program.

The man is one of the best to do it, but it’s time. It’s been time.

I'm glad he did. It needs to be said.

Good. Fran is as big of an expert on basketball as anyone around the world.

We’ve been held hostage to JB’s ego. Original plan to hand it over to Hop was the right plan. Hop was the real coach behind SU for the 15 years before his departure. Without Hop, JB has been completely exposed.

And don’t forget Weaver.

It’s gonna take a long long time to dig out of this crater the program has been taken to. Not even sure it’s an attractive job to potential coaches these days given how far down we are now. Headed for our second straight sub-.500 season and next season likely won’t be much different regardless of who is at the helm.

Not the first time it’s happened and it won’t be the last, but it’s sad to watch another legendary college coach torpedo what he built.

It doesn’t have to be. Illinois lost 10 guys and is a top 20 team again. Meanwhile JB looks like a moron for slamming the Big 10.

Unfortunately, it was always going to be this way with JB. The top coaches have such competitiveness and ego, they just can’t imagine they aren’t the best answer anymore. And with JB, it almost seems like the louder the noise that he’s lost the fastball, the more he’s likely to dig in to prove he hasn’t.

Makes me respect Jay Wright all the more.

The portal essentially guarantees you can turn a program around in a year. People gotta chill, this isn’t the 80s anymore where you have to build a program, now you buy it.

It sure as hell won’t be Boeheim who does that. He’s more or less said as much.

Then why has the team stunk for the last few years? Why not turn it around?

It doesn’t matter who or when, if the new coach wants a good team the year after JB leaves, they can get the alum together and buy one. As Illinois just showed you, transfer talent will always trump freshman talent
