It just reads like a weird game...particularly the half time stats...stats didnt tell the tale of a team playing that bad..but we only had 25 pts. at the half, we were shooting just under 50 percent from the field...33 percent from three...very few turn overs...but we only had like 20 field goal attempts, despite the low turn over number and the limited free throws.

so to those who watched the game..was miami just passing the ball around for 34 seconds and then shooting?

if so...

more reason to reduce the shot clock a few seconds.

They were patient on offense but their zone gave us fits and that created some long possessions from us as well. Both offenses were deliberate and disjointed.

If you go by the stats, Cuse loses. Fortunately there are guys who can make plays- something SU's had the last few years-- and make them they did. I expected adjustments at the half would allow the team to pull away but Larranaga is a dern good coach and it came down to playmaking.

Worst thing is I have to watch the game again- I always like that but this time I'll be with my son who doesn't know the outcome- he'll be groaning (as I was) the whole time.

Don't think I could watch that one again.
Burn the tape.

a large number of long possessions by both teams. i have always thought that points against was a deceiving stat and today would be a game that demonstrated that. tough to shorten the shot clock unless you ban zone defense. not saying this would be a good thing just saying attacking a zone takes more time than beating a man off the dribble. scores based on stats can be deceiving as noted.

Today's game shows how limited our offense is when Cooney's shot is off. He is the only perimeter threat. Miami's zone was very effective in limiting open shots in the paint while Cooney was going 2-12 from outside. We have to develop more options from outside. Maybe Tyler has to improve from outside (he takes very few perimeter shots) or develop Patterson for some depth if TC isn't hitting. Fortunately in the last few minutes CJ hit a huge 3 from the corner and Grant hit a FT line jumper (which he almost always misses). If those 2 shots miss, we lose. Today once again this team showed the ability to make big plays in crunch time ...as they have all year...outscoring Miami by 10 points over the final 6 minutes. Our defense kept us in it. Against a better offensive team, I don't know if we can overcome a bad shooting game by Cooney.

I think Cooney did pretty well actually. He scored 11 points and made key free throws down the stretch. But still the best part of the game was when it was over.
