Keeping Perspective After First Loss

Lost me after the line, "Boeheim should play more zone".

And, we weren't dominated on the boards by a "smaller, less athletic team". With no Melo, we were out-muscled by a tougher team, whose inside guys also had more skill.

Could have been a better game if our perimeter guys had shot better, but this team showed it could be vulnerable to teams with inside muscle. Really need Melo.

I wasn't saying we should play more zone, I was saying that there are a lot of fans that will say we should play more man.

But yes the team isn't nearly as good without Fab. But I'm hopeful he will be back after the Cincy game.

Perspective is realizing we're nowhere near as good a team w/o Fab in the middle. If things don't get resolved and he is indeed done this year, I see us maxing out at the sweet 16. Hopefully I get proven wrong, but that rarely happens.
As of now, I'm confident Fab will be back soon

Melo would have helped, but if you look back to the Pitt game we were dominated inside against them too. They just couldn't make close range shots. If they did we would most likely be talking about ND as our second loss.

I'm not. Don't have any facts or sources to prove it, but if he's ineligible, he's ineligible. Don't see how it gets reversed.

Easy. Could be an incomplete that's screwing with his GPA and that was a miscommunication. Could be a dropped class that didn't get dropped properly and a 0 got factored into his GPA. SU said they expect things to be resolved next week and he won't miss anymore games past Monday. If it was more serious, doubtful they'd say that.

Hope you're right but we'll see.

Where did SU say they "expect things to be resolved next week and he won't miss anymore games past Monday." Andy Katz said something similar but not this explicitly.

Yeah, I believe the quote was they expect it to be resolved on Tuesday. Which could mean the appeal is denied, he's ineligible for the rest of the year. Or, it could mean he's playing Saturday.

Fab's the reason they missed a lot of close range shots.

There is being dominated on the boards (Pitt) and being abused (ND). With Melo in the line-up for 25 minutes, ND would have had several shots returned to sender and their bigs would have hesitated.
If your point is that we didn't rebound well enough even with Melo -- no argument.
