addazio, holtz, jones left those schools
marrone, cryst, flood, strong left the conference

all the new teams and coaches won't have any prior big east tenure

people aren't even used to pasqualoni not being here, seems like he was just hired at uconn

not to hijack this thread - but next season watching the Coach P / UConn situation will be absolutely fascinating

after starting off with two 5-7 seasons, he met with the AD, was told that he would be retained for a third season and the AD said that while he didn't make any demands, he "recommended that someone other than Deleone call the plays next season".

it's like deja vu all over again - what will Coach P decide to do when faced with an almost identical situation this time around?

Is that true? Thinking Bruce Willis line from Die Hard 2. "How can the same happen to the same guy twice?"

yes - incredibly it is true - here's some excerpts from the Hartford Courant article discussing the meeting with the AD:

UConn athletic director Warde Manuel confirmed Tuesday that football coach Paul Pasqualoni will be back for a third season.

Manuel had a meeting Monday with Pasqualoni in which the two discussed the direction and future of the program. Manuel said he expects to see some adjustments next season, but would not discuss specifics of the meeting.
"It was a very good meeting. … Paul knew my decision, so it wasn't designed as an evaluation or anything," Manuel said. "There weren't any ultimatums or anything like that. I don't manage by threatening."

Manuel confirmed that the two talked about the coaching staff. He said he did not tell Pasqualoni to make any changes.
A source with knowledge of the meeting, however, said Manuel did suggest that someone other than offensive coordinator George DeLeone should call the plays next season.

"I hear our fans and I understand their disappointment, but we're going to make the adjustments to have a better performance on the field than we had this year," Manuel said.

The thread discussing this on their board was pretty funny with some of the fans incredulous that he merely suggested Deleone be removed from play calling instead of demanding it. One even went back and found the Daily Orange article from 2004 discussing the meeting between Coach P and Crouthamel where the same thing was discussed.

not to turn this into a 'P is great, no he sucks' thread...but the man has been Head Coach in the BigEast for 16 of its 22 years of existence.

they should name COY after him.

Oh Lord

Oh Lord

If that helps them make better choices for that award, then I'm all for it.

Actually, now that the 2012 COY has been announced, I no longer have to care. And...it...feels...phenomenal.

Well, next season Louisville (and Strong) will still be in the BE. The year after. . .? Who knows if PP will still be at UConn.

I think if he had won the conference more often during that tenure and started winning it again this time at UConn, that would be a definite possibility given the long tenure

That's nuts.
