Dion kept the ball to himself first on that fastbreak that he threw up the "shot" over his head backward. Then Dion forced a drive, and on another possession refused to pass to an open Kris at the 3 point line. Kris talked to him when Dion was at the foul line, and Kris still had a pissy look on his face in the hand shaking line.

Dion still has to remain a team player. An assist is as good as a bucket. If you don't pass it, you damn well better have a better shot. None of this flip it over your head .

Only downside to a "kill the vampire" kind of win.

I understand he wants to take it to the hole but good god he needs to do a better job of finding people on fast breaks. I almost lost my when he did the over the head shot. No reason too as he had a guy wide open. I'm glad he got in his face a little.

Kris should try giving half the effort Dion does. Joseph is a big part of our rebounding problems.

True story.

That wasn't it. Dion got it over half court in a press break situation. He had a wide open lob to Kris, but per JB instructions he was killing clock so he held the ball. The problem with that is he was fouled immediately which stopped the clock and made the 2 points harder to get. Also since there was like 1:07 on the clock, the clock would have run after the basket. This is the price you pay for icing the clock, Dion was just following instructions.

Dion won the game. Maybe Kris should concentrate on making more than one of like 9 WIDE open 3's or get more than two rebounds.

Remember he (and all our guys underneath) was being mugged. 100 times out of 101 he gets the foul called there. Just not against the festering, puss swilling, fungus that is P.U.

Different plays. On the 2 plays in particular I was talking about, Dion took a shot (one a really crappy shot), but one time he got bailed out by the foul call. He did not back it out on the possessions I was talking about, although I agree he may have done that later.

big deal he was a bit selfish, and definitely should have given that particular pass up, as well as another fb, but Kris is a senior and should not let that bother him... how bout the drive and dish for an open 3 Dion provided him with late in the game to nail it in?

While that may be true, it has nothing to do with the OP arguement about Dion forgetting he had teammates. A small amount of regression for him tonight.

KJo has never been a fan of going against physical teams. He really was not interested in mixing it up down low tonight...even moreso than usual. He likes others doing the dirty work, as he starts to run out on the break with the guards before we secure the board.

I would guess this is a bit overblown, I'm sure there are moments of frustration, but how could anyone take exception with Dion.

I see 10 guys who are having a lot of fun winning.

And Mookie.

I didn't see the play as selfish at all. Didn't appear he had any way to get the ball around the defensive player. Dion went in with his head down and the defender was in his shirt so he rode him. Not a problem at all for me.

It probably is overblown, and normally I agree... the team seems to be having a great time. But I had some pretty good seats tonight, and Ithaca is dead on in describing Kris. He seems pissed, and really tight. It was almost as if he wanted to be the best player on the court and felt he wasn't getting his shot. I've never really seen that from Kris so maybe it was an off night on his part.

Kris was pissed. Dion held the ball to get fouled while KJo had an easy dunk.

I also texted Jake at halftime (he was home sick) that a lot of people weren't happy with him in the 1st half. You could tell by some players body language and JB's face and stomp. Dion has been playing great this year, but the last couple games and particularly tonight, the motion and quick passing on the offense has slowed because everyone stands around while Dion is trying to break his man down. He literally was an offense stopper the first half tonight. Was a little better the 2nd half. Last game he also didn't get back a few times on defense and hung at midcourt hoping for breakouts and his dunks. I hope all the 1st BE, POY, AA stuff isn't going to his head.

Should be an easy fix for a coaching staff of an undefeated #1 team. SU was pushed around a bit tonight, I'd bet there was a little of that bothering them. And I guess it wouldn't be hard to see Kris worrying that this deep bench might impact his auditions for next year, not to mention that Dion is stealing his headlines. Normally I'd say the pros would probably be more impressed seeing the team player shine through, but it's the NBA and that league blows goats.

If I can be assured that this ends up being this year's edition of SU hoops drama, I'll book my flight to NOLA right now.

Kris needs a few more rebounds and Dion needs a few more assists. That's easy enough to remedy. Plus there are very very few teams in this world that get under the skin of Syracuse teams like P.U. does (Marquette seemingly becoming one of them), so they are behind us and no threat of seeing Pitt in the NCAA tourney.

With your comments, Chip, I am thinking back to Anthony playing in the Final Four. That cheating hack from Oklahoma sent out his Euro goon to earn his scholy by hurting our boy.

If we only have one best player, who do you think wilts under that type of pressure? My concern is that Waiters tries to kill 6'11 270" right then and there, instead of doing the Anthony route of just beating them. I think Joseph is a fantastic talent who will play in the NBA, but on our team this year only Dion Waiters has the boss squirrel that the team needs.

However, a couple other guys from that team have made paychecks. Teams that win the championship have at least three NBA players. Joseph will make the league and will make his money. He also gets a degree worth a bit.

Methinks Dion is seeing all the hype and attention he has been getting and it is effecting his play by becoming about him again. He needs to remember how he got to this point.

if it happened once there's no thread. it's becoming a bad habit.

This x1000000... dion is great at finishing on the break, but he virtually never drops it off to a trailer for the wide open 2 or passes it on a 2 on 1.
