Las Vegas

You could, with steady driving, see Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, and the north rim of the canyon in 2-2 1/2 days. I will second upstate: it’s amazing. I never show pictures of it, because it doesn’t translate.
If interested, we stayed about equidistant from all three in the Parry lodge, which was very cool itself, due to all to old Western movie stars who stayed there shooting movies.
We did that trip after a friend's wedding in Vegas. Amazing sights. You're spot on about how photos can't possibly do it justice.

We made the stop enroute to my son’s wedding in Julian, CA, which is about 90 minutes northeast of San Diego. A very cool place on its own.

I found these apps called MyVEGAS slots and blackjack and downloaded them. You earn points just for playing and it’s free to do. I have currently enough points for 2 comp nights at either the Luxor or Excalibur and you can get them for any MGM property. It’s extremely worth it to do even for the cheaper rates you can get

Just got back from checking out Circa... my goodness that is amazing. I didn’t go up to stadium swim, but if it’s anything like the book, it’s gonna be epic

next time I go back I will have to check out Circa. Have not spent any time off the strip yet in my trips

Yeah if you plan on making that a regular thing, get an MLife card and play with that while you're there, it will build up credits for free rooms, faster than the apps. MLife is the umbrella over MGM, Luxor, Excalibur, and a lot of others.

You guys have legal gambling in Florida? Since we have it here, my woman gambles in the casinos here under that and gets a crazy amount of offers. Free suites here, and constantly getting free rooms in Vegas for all of those hotels. I was surprised that when we went to the Battle for Atlantis tourney, we got 3 nights free there because they were tied in somehow.

As far as the strip hotels go NY, NY I wouldn't stay at again until they do a refresh on the rooms, even then it's not that great. Them and the MGM (even the regular suites) are pretty basic, but it depends on what people are using the room for. If you're talking nice suites, Aria, and Cosmo, Bellagio are a level above those imo. Aria and Cosmo are my favorites for rooms and good bars. Sometimes it just comes down to which is the newer build. You can go online and see everyone's suites. People's experiences there and what they like will be as diverse as asking about NYC. Just so much.

I'm not much of a gambler in the video poker or table games sense. I use Vegas for food, boxing, and sportsbooks. Westgate is the worlds largest , really fun for the NCAA tourney, besides that a bit overrated imo. I like Caesar's, old classic feel and cool stuff like on Derby day a proper Woodford reserve mint julep ran down an ice slide into a commemorative cup, etc. The little things for me, lol.

What, the site won't let you write 'sports' and book together??

See, I need to travel down there and hang with you for a bit. I’ve never had the Vegas experience the right way.

I mean, I missed out on the 21 year old Vegas experience like FloridaFan is doing. Never interested me back then, even though as you can imagine, Colorado people and most I know go there on the weekends year round, like people from the surrounding areas go to NYC. One of my best friends actually commutes every week has a house in both places.

I just struck up an interest in the past decade, coming from a different angle than I would've when I was younger no doubt, I'm glad I waited lol. I'm always down when there's something to go out for, a fight, the tourney, or to meet up with friends that happen to be going.

We might have to just set aside some bail $ and meet CuseTroop out there. Have an endless supply of resources for info by friends who live there, or who go constantly.

Looking to go to Vegas in the Fall once all of this is starting to get better. Any tips on hotels? We are looking for a suite preferably and we will be gambling a lot so that is also important. Thanks for any advice in advance!
I like the mgm signature. No casino and better rooms I think with a indoor walk to the mgm. Starbucks in the walking area. Good central location. If they are doing shows absinthe at Caesar's is cool

one super underrated spot is Vdara, the rooms are great and it’s mgm brand. there’s no casino in the hotel...but who cares, a short walk to Aria, which has the best sports book imo and Bellagio

If your friend is interested in making a new friend, I know a guy who just moved to Henderson and currently has no friends.

Me.

I'm that guy.
Wait. You moved to Henderson NV?

I thought I was gonna marry a girl from Henderson.

I did not.

Sonnary got sick of being cold lol. We moved her down here in October. I've been going back and forth. Plan is to spend my winters in NV, summers in AK. If a job pops up here in NV that's too good to pass up, I might jump on it and hang down here full time. My program in Alaska only has 3 years left before it ends anyway. Tricky times for the ol cusetroop. I never thought I'd leave Alaska
