It's really good on my ipad.in terms of quality of stream and quality of picture?
If you want to watch the content on a normal TV then WatchESPN on any of the devices would be preferred over a laptop.I'm talking about espn3 via my laptop vs. WatchESPN via a roku/apple tv
Picture quality is always 1080p for me with Apple TV, the only issue is you can't really follow along on twitter or text people during the game as it's 20-30 seconds behind. I prefer it to the crapshoot that is streaming it on my laptop though.I'm talking about espn3 via my laptop vs. WatchESPN via a roku/apple tv
Yup, if you have ESPN3 access via your provider now, then you'll also have it via the WatchESPN app on the various devices.thanks all for the feeback…
Another, related, question: will I have access to espn3 if I only have internet (not cable) through Comcast?

Yes, the game is on Full Court.I'm in a hotel in Pasadena. Slowish internet connection. Saturday may be torture for me to watch. Does anyone know if it is a full court game? Then I could go to a sports bar to watch.
I have used it both ways - laptop with hdmi cables to flat screen TV or IPAD with apple TV streaming to flat screen and the picture is better with the IPAD and Apple TV.I'm talking about espn3 via my laptop vs. WatchESPN via a roku/apple tv
Not to be too nit picky, but they don't broadcast it in 1080p. Actually no one broadcasts anything in 1080p except maybe for PPV movies.Picture quality is always 1080p for me with Apple TV, the only issue is you can't really follow along on twitter or text people during the game as it's 20-30 seconds behind. whatever the highest quality is then. all i know is it looks like i'm watching on the HD channel when I had cable. Not to be too nit picky, but they don't broadcast it in 1080p. Actually no one broadcasts anything in 1080p except maybe for PPV movies.
Madbiker said:Is the picture quality using a Roku3 connected to a flat screen better than the picture you get on your PC browser? If yes, then I would invest in the Roku. Anyone have any experience with this?
I never really understood what Roku and Apple TV do. I have directv currently. Does Roku do anything differently than what a laptop connected to my lcd would do? Also, Roku wouldn't enable me to watch epsn 3 would it? I don't get access to espn 3 because I only have time warner internet which is not a subscriber.
That's exactly what I've been saying in all of these threads during the last few years. ESPN3 access is tied to your Internet Service Provider. He other channels are tied to your Video Service Provider. If you don't subscribe to ESPN on your cable you will not get ESPN3 "cable games". That is anything that's being shown on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU. When you are just subscribed to internet you will only get things that are ONLY shown on ESPN3. They force you to subscribe to their high level TV package that gets ESPN in order to get the rest.
You are free to watch ALL replays though no matter what channel those were on even without ESPN subscription.
I'm boycotting cable until they allow a-la-carte selections, so I have to illegal stream any non-ESPN3 games even though I have Comcast and get basic ESPN3 access.
Llandz, if you do go to the bar to watch the game... remember, watch out for "Little Old Ladies" while in Pasadena.I'm in a hotel in Pasadena. Slowish internet connection. Saturday may be torture for me to watch. Does anyone know if it is a full court game? Then I could go to a sports bar to watch.
