I always figured we were around the 40th biggest FB fan base and Top 5 BB fan base. But 14th for FB?

I know attendance isn't everything but our TV ratings don't suggest #14.

Not a marketing guy. But, perhaps baed on eyeballs (TV) opportunity as all of Upstate/ some of Downstate add up to alot of people. Nebraska for example has a avid fan base but very small population.

#41 would be believable as we have fans up and down the east coast...somehow their metrics really favor Cuse.

They had Yukon at #42 just ahead of Rutgirls. Yukon seems about 60 spots high.

"Greater New York", where Syracuse is located according to ESPN'S basketball experts, includes all of NY and NJ (including LI and AC), and 2/3rds of PA.
 
FWIW, historically SU has ranked around 32nd in terms of apparel sales. Not bad.
True but several huge fan base schools did not get ranked through that licensee.
 
Not that it matters…but 85% of the time when I go to Iowa games, wearing Cuse of course….I get told illinois…..so maybe people get confused?

Do Iowans know the difference between an "I" and an "S," ? Seems they'd see the "S" and know it's not the Illini.

We will see how many trips I can take in ‘23….planning on taking the family to Maui for the classic I think.
 
My guess is our brand really matters and is well known in the biggest tv markets which happen to be the least invested college football markets. Nyc LA Chicago Philly Boston do sway things and are all top 10 markets.

The school sends a ton of grads to the coasts where eyeballs matter.

They just see the blue and orange and jump to a conclusion. I'm sure I'd get the same reaction.

Very interesting analysis. Page 25's grim summary on us seems spot-on to me.
