Presnap against bc he was fiddling with them above the knee almost every play. Seemed to be bothering him. Has he been doing that all year and I just noticed? Seems like an unnecessary distraction

They look absolutely ridiculous riding up so high. When did they stop wearing kneepads for protection? The 1998 Tennessee ref would have field day with these new pants.

I bet a lot of Washington Huskies games last year and my GF commented that it looked like their OLine were all wearing biker shorts.

It's the pleats.

Knee pads will not protect you form anything - which is why no one wears them.

Wrong. As someone who played a life’s worth of football, was AA in it, recruited by all the big boys and now teaches orthopedics 34 years, treats same, they’re helpful in certain situations.

Protects the patella from side glancing blows and possible fractures and dislocations hitting the pad before the patella thus first absorbing the blow, as well as protect the knee from fall down compression injuries of the patella with the potential chondromalacia patella issues, and then simple stuff like protects against abrasions, scrapes and possible subsequent infections. It makes no logical sense from an injury standpoint.

Where it does make sense, and I might have entertained the thought if had been given the option, is how it frees up your mobility a bit if you’re a speed player, have to run, etc.

I wonder if anyone really did a comparison of running speed with knee pads vs no pads to see how much it slows people down. I know I used like volleyball knee pads a ton playing all sorts of sports and while you could feel them I never really felt like it slowed me down at all.

That’s a mic drop if I’ve ever seen one!
