RECEIVER – Jackson Meeks, Syracuse, WR, Pendleton, Indiana
Meeks had two touchdowns in Syracuse’s 21-point comeback win over No. 6 Miami. He caught seven passes for 110 yards on the day, two of which found the end zone. The other five receptions went for first downs.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN – Savion Washington, Syracuse, OT, Akron, Ohio
Washington led an offensive line that paved the way for a 42-point effort and 479 yards of total offense in the win against No. 6 Miami. He played 75 snaps, had a 93-percent pass protection grade and a 90-percent run blocking grade. He added four knockdown blocks.

DEFENSIVE BACK – Devin Grant, Syracuse, DB, Elmont, New York
Grant gave Syracuse its first lead in its 21-point comeback win (the largest in program history) over No. 6 Miami. He punched the ball out from Xavier Restrepo, forcing a fumble, which he recovered and housed 56 yards for the score. He also made seven tackles in the win. Grant's fumble return gave Syracuse a 35-28 lead in the waning moments of the third quarter. The Orange would not trail again, winning 42-38 in their first win over an AP Top-10 team since 2017.

So using the PFF grades in which Washington was below AVG, does that mean 90% run blocking is pretty bad?

The guy can’t read a chart. The updated pff numbers moved Washington from below average to average but no where’s near a 90. He was very good pass blocking but not an excellent 93 either.

maybe he uses some other service metric? Is there another one?

Not that i know of with that type of grading. But I guess there could be.

Coaches do their own grading I believe... Which is why most hate PFF, because PFF often doesn't know what the play call or assignment was. I remember Fran saying in a press conference a corner got blamed for giving up a touchdown and everyone was wrong because it was actually the safety's responsibility.

That guy above is not a coach. And every nfl team and 80% of ncaa teams subscribe to PFF so I don’t know about most hating it. Most media outlets refer to it. Its investors include many football people. Many ex football players are on their staff. Is it perfect? Hell no. But it’s unbiased and their process is consistent and reliable and isn’t some box score related metric.

Selected by a panel of media

Right but the schools nominate their players I believe. 90 must be his Syracuse grade.

That would be kind of dumb. I’d be grading my players high every week.

Allows for very different perspectives for sure, but I’d argue it’s the same thing as PFF. Whatever person gets assigned that film is subjectively grading on what they think. I’m obviously a skeptic of PFF, but whatever intern got assigned Syracuse/UConn can’t be grading the same way as whoever is doing Georgia/Bama.

Yeah this seems like a grade from the conference or the staff. PFF is a good metric for what it is, but it's a little bit like grading someone's essay when you weren't told the assignment. You can make a pretty good guess at what it was but you won't know for sure unless you're told.

And Nixon's offense is, at times, pretty crafty. Saturday at one point my buddy and I were debating whether the previous play was a draw or not.

Just browsed around. Last weeks OL. They use PFF.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN– Ozzy Trapilo, Boston College, RT, Norwell, Massachusetts
Trapilo and the Boston College offensive line paved the way for 228 rushing yards and 192 passing yards in a 420-yard day for the Eagles’ offense in a 41-21 win over North Carolina. The BC right tackle graded out at a team-best 85.9 from Pro Football Focus in pass blocking with zero pressures on 33 quarterback dropbacks.

And of course that PFF grade doesn’t match what’s on the PFF site. So I have no clue what the ACC panel is doing with pff numbers.
