I hate to say it, but MyManMelo needs to stop taking so many 20 foot jump shots without passing the ball around first. Amare and others look like they want to strange Melo sometimes.
It's why he'll never be mentioned in the Lebron, Wade, Durant etc.. discussions of truly elite players. Settles for long jumpers entirely too much. The Knicks don't have a lot of scoring options, but he has to limit his jumpers and find other ways to score.I hate to say it, but MyManMelo needs to stop taking so many 20 foot jump shots without passing the ball around first. He needs a true point guard so he can do his thing on the inside more. This point -forward gig keeps him outside where he's more tempted to jack it up. Baron Davis may be ready sooner than expected. I've heard as early as next week.
I fear they overpaid for both Melo and Stoudamire and will be crippled to really fix their roster going forward. Like you said, I don't think Melo and Amare can play off each other--not sure how much or what they could get for Amare, but it's something I would ponder if in the NYK front office. He had true pg's in Denver and his story has generally been the same. Melo requires isolation...so I don't think a point guard is quite as important to him. The Knicks feed him very well in the post and everywhere else. Melo just needs to improve his shot selection and use the double teams to his teams advantage and PASS the ball to the open teammate.
Amare needs isolation as well, so this is just a strange marriage on the Knicks. I dont think it will ever work.
Not really an NBA guy, but I might have. There biggest mistake was signing Amare for as much they did--talented guy, but his game at this point doesn't warrant that kind of pay.As a Knick fan, if you could roll back the clock would you have stuck with Gallinari and gone in the direction they were headed in?
So much for that special defense coach they hired. The Knicks also play zero D...they couldn't get a stop to save their lives today...
Looking back on it now, I would've tried to see if N.O. would bite for Paul, and if not, go for Deron Williams who was traded to the Nets the next day for less.As a Knick fan, if you could roll back the clock would you have stuck with Gallinari and gone in the direction they were headed in?
Knicks 411 - How will a PG help? They have a clogged lane and a bunch of guys who need iso's to be effective.
The defense hasn't been that bad overall this year, though there have been some terrible individual games. T he offense has been the issue.
They definitely need a PG. They need to blend Amare and Melo's skillsets together. The back court right now is pretty terrible. Melo and Amare both need the ball to impact games. It was never a great fit, but they aren't a below 500 team either, I don't think. (Then again, they were below 500 after the trade last year)
Definitley would've been better off if Dolan hadn't just given up every asset they had for Melo. He could've come here as a FA, or maybe they could;ve gotten Deron (though he has been pretty bad this year).
Amare aint right. Problem is everyone else knows it too. Trying to trade him will be impossible. Definitely need a big pg.
He looks really stiff to me. I am more concerned it is his knees. I have never liked his game honestly (even when in PHX). The only chance Knicks have is if they can somehow swing a deal for Nash.
