Mini meltdown after a win because we didn't win by enough.

This place will be exciting, in the way a zombie apocalypse would be exciting, when we lose.

How dare these teams we play have the audacity to try and win.

For me, its not that I didn't like how we played. Just that it is impossible to feel good after playing Pitt - win or lose. Everyone loses when Pitt is involved. I am just burning right now with anger and hatred for that whole dump of a program. Thank god we don't have another game against them and they didn't appear to hurt any of our basketball players.

That I get. Basketball is supposed to be a beautiful sport to watch and programs like Pitt and Butler ruin it by daring the referees to call every foul. I was more commenting on the "woe is us" posts.

Understand. Hell people need to understand what a big win this was for us. I said it earlier and I meant it: based on many factors (yes many of them historical), there was no reason in the world to think SU could win this game tonight. The game played out EXACTLY as I feared it might and we still out toughed them, dealt with absurd officiating, their coaching superiority, etc and got a win. It is the biggest win of the season so far as I'm concerned. Talk to me again after Looevil...

This is a pretty funny line - because it's true.

I'm happy as hell about the win. Spent a good deal of time after the buzzer with my fists in the air, instructing Pitt to suck it.

Even so, I'm looking for six straight wins in the tournament. After the first two rounds, we won't be able to afford a game like this. I was hoping we were incapable of games like this. Sorry but I'm wringing my hands that we are.

No. This was the Sweet 16 game that we always lose. The difference is we won it. I think this game is a big deal for us. Much more so than beating them by 20 would have been. That Pitt team is about 85% of what they have been. Their epic suckage record-wise makes this look like a crappy win, but it isn't.

Wow, and how dare the board critique a pretty lackluster performance just because we won! The final result shouldn't cloud objective analysis. There wasn't a ton to get excited about tonight. Everyone is happy that we won, but Pitt was incredibly undermanned and yet still posed the same problems for us that they've posed for the past 10 years. They got the ball to good spots against our zone, they outrebounded us, and they made life difficult for our halfcourt offense. Thank god they missed all of those free throws.

The good news is that we played OK, and still beat a pretty solid team (despite their record) by a comfortable margin. There's no meltdown. It's OK to call a spade a spade, even after a win. We were "meh" tonight.
