6:52 mark. We are attempting an extra point up 24-21, Tech blocks it, and Jack Stonehouse our punter chases down the VT player from behind. If Tech gets two points the other way, our chances of winning go down significantly and the entire complexion of the game changes. He was very smart to take a shallow angle in tackling the Tech player knowing he had the entire field to work with.

This reminded me of the 1998 game when McNabb threw an interception on a two-point conversion and Tech took it 100 yards the other way. McNabb pretty viciously horse collar tackled him (when that was still allowed), but the Tech player illegally fumbled the ball forward and another player fell on it, and the refs still gave them the two points.

That's game winning football by Stonehouse that won't show up in the stat sheet.

Should the block kick have been a penalty? IHe jumped over the guard and center and I thought may have lined up over the center and/or put his arm on one of them to leap. Same call that went against a few weeks ago. I didn’t see a replay but thought it was close. Think the announcers said it could’ve been a penalty

That memory from the 98 game flashed through my head too! As I watched Stonehouse track him down and wondered if they took it for 2 how that would change the calculus

The analyst said it was a penalty but the guy got away with it.

Absolutely.

That was an on a knifes edge game if their ever was one. Quite a few things went our way.

Petry didnt try to block anyone. He literally put his head down as the guy went right bye him and Coach has got too talk to refs about this before game and also replace Petry cause that was just a lazy a play.

Petry also got a nice view of McCord being sacked by the guy that pushed right past him.

He was lined up fine, and maybe the refs thought it wasn't a blatant enough jump to call it? It did kind of look like a small hop versus the running leaps I've seen called a few times in the NFL this year
