This thread will have all games in the Southwest Regional.

Also this "what if sports" simulation assumes teams are at full health. So that Z guy, which is a key player for Creighton, will be playing.

This regional has 6 games on the First Thursday.

#4 Butler 78, #13 North Texas 64

Butler put the hammer on this game in the first half and cruises to victory.

#12 UCLA 66, #5 Iowa 56

UCLA was in control for most of this one. They were up by about 15 for most of the second half.

Luke Garza, Iowa's All-American and player of the year in some eyes, was limited to 15 points and 4 rebounds.

The embarrasing day continues for the Big Ten who are now 0-3 in the first day of the tournament, and 0-4 if you consider Indiana's play in loss.

#2 FLORIDA ST 89, #15 LITTLE ROCK 82

An underwhelming performance for the #2 seed

In fact with 3:22 left in the game, Little Rock took a 4 point lead as the crowd was sensing and cheering on the massive upset. However, Florida St then responded with a 12-0 run to close out the game.

#10 Purdue 69, #7 Virginia 56

Purdue builds on it Big Ten tourney championship with an impressive first round win, over what seemed to be a very tough #7 seed in Virginia.

I was hoping the B1G would get embarrassed and shut out.

#3 Creighton 90, #14 Bradley 76

In a battle of former MVC conference mates, Creighton cruised in the second half to win. Although they were certainly worried at half when they were down by 8 points.

A great performance by Marcus Zegarowski as he showed no ill effects from his recent knee injury which he was able to recover from fairly quickly. 29/10/6 on extremely efficient shooting.. perhaps the best performance so far in the tournament.

And finally the last Thursday game.

#11 East Tennessee St 78 #6 BYU 67

Not much of an upset, these teams were fairly even. Tennessee must have the best directional schools in the recent history of the NCAA tournament (Middle and East)

#1 Baylor 82, #16 Boston U 68

Another scare for a #1, Boston U had the lead with 11 minutes to go, but in the end Baylor pulled away.

After the first round.

The region is moving largely to form except for the 5,6 and 7 seeds all losing which is not all that unusual.

#12 UCLA 71, #5 Butler 58

UCLA continues their really good play since the about midway through conference play. Butler is the first 1-4, not to make the Sweet 16.

Great game to the end the day.

#11 East Tennessee St 99, #3 Creighton 98 in Double OT

Here is how regulation end... we will have to use the imagination for something that seems almost imposssible.

Saturday play is now concluded. The first matchup for the sweet 16 has been determined. Seven more matchups to be determined tomorrow.
