Comments: Jesse played 30 minutes in the 6 games. Since the Niagara game was the first one where it was announced he wouldn’t play before the game, I credited him with 6 minutes a game when he was available. He continues to score well, (he’s 13 for 15 from the field this season), but the rest of his game suffered. He rebounded much less and his fouls shot up.

Comments: Robert played in 5 games but we didn’t hear about his injury until after the Niagara game, in which he played so I divided his 23 minutes by 6 games. In those 23 minutes he scored 9 points, had 4 rebounds and a steal, missed just one shot and had 1 turnover with no fouls. I still think he’ll be an excellent player for us when he finally gets his big chance. But it doesn’t seem like it will be this year.

Comment: Joe’s shooting has gone down while his scoring had gone up. His assists have gone down so we can see that he’s shooting more and passing less. Basically he brings it up and then settles into the role of one of our three shooters. I wonder: he was a great scorer in high school. But that mean he’s a great shooter?

Comments: Buddy has turned into a major scorer for us. He can also pass the ball and makes an occasional steal. You’re not going to get a lot else from a pure shooting guard. The increase in his fouls is indicative of some defensive lapses.

Comments: Goodine has to be the biggest disappointment on the team. Quincy Guerrier has been erratic at best, comical at worst, but he’s been productive at times. As JB has said, he had a year off, always used to play on the perimeter and is learning a new role and system here. Goodine may be learning the point guard position but he’s always been a guard and was a well-regarded recruit. He’s done nothing. In fact, you look at his numbers and they are the definition of nothing. He’s basically been a glorified walk-on.
Howard Washington
