Ulmer was another name consistently written down in my notes throughout Maverik Showtime, and was hailed by more than one observer as the best goalie at the showcase. Ulmer displayed consistently good reaction time and anticipation, making a lot of saves and making them look easy. A tremendous stopper all around, he was particularly strong up high and one would have to bring considerable heat to beat him from range. He was a stud in the 2019 all-star game and a prime candidate for defensive MVP, at one point making a strong-side low save that was robbery for the shooter.
