Class of 2022 New Commit: Carter Kempney (NY: Carthage) Mid

Another one to keep an eye on. Sisters Kailah and Braelie both played for Gait.

Local talent unfortunately is still down like it has been for the last 3-5 years, not barren for sure but nonwhere near the 90s and 2000s. Still a few high end D1 guys and Kempney can definitely be one of them.

In the Behrman/Spallina article written by Ty Xanders, he also discusses Jeremy Hopsicker, a '22 attack from Brockport by way of Westminster and Sweetlax (did i do that right?). That's pretty nice that in addition to chasing Spallina, there are two 4/5 star type attackers from within about 2 hours of Syracuse. Kempney was an "honorable mention standout" as was Lukas Lawas, a goalie from Horseheads by way of Hill Academy and FCA Upstate.

Good catch on Hopsicker, not familiar with him to be honest but looks like a player. Would have to think SU would be on all three. There in on Spallina and Behrman for sure.

Carter Kempney '22, M, Carthage (N.Y.) / Orange Crush
Kempney thrived in transition and scrappy plays whether he was clearing the ball, collecting his own rebound for a goal, or dodging downhill immediately in early offense. He has quickness, speed, and a first step that commands the pole whenever he sets foot on the field. His body control, stick protection and field awareness allow him to get to the precarious spots in the defense and convert at a high rate. The Carthage (N.Y.) product should be able to create instant offense at the next level, even when dodging the pole.

Apex60 (not sure what actual Apex event this was, they have a bunch)

Coming from the same high school that produced the Powell brothers, Kempney does a plethora of things at an exceptionally high level. He hammers it from the outside with authority, makes difference-making plays in the middle of the field and can play tough, physical defense to start transition opportunities.

Really hope we're active here Kempney looks like a classic SU guy.
