Class of 2017 New Commit: Jonathan Partamian (CA) Mid

Jonathan Partamian ’17, M, Goon Elite / Loyola (Calif.) – Uncommitted
The uncommitted next to Jonathan’s name shouldn’t be there too much longer. In his game against the Atlantic Coast Starz, Jonathan was able to consistently create his own shot by beating his defender. It didn’t matter if it was a short stick or long stick midfielder, he would not be denied. In addition to being able to beat his man, Partamian has tremendous velocity on his shot. His athleticism between the lines was impressive, and I hope I have the opportunity to watch him play again this summer. As his coach Mario Waibel said, “We have high hopes for this kid, and he played incredibly well at the Adrenaline Challenge.” I would agree wholeheartedly.

Jon Partamian, Midfield, Loyola High School (Calif.)/West Coast Starz – Syracuse An intriguing athletic West Coast midfielder, Partamian was easily noticeable because of his teal colored stick – not a bad idea for recruits, to have something that subtly stands out to identify you. But what really stood out about Partamian was his athleticism on both sides of the field. Coming up the field and dodging downhill, he is just plain fast. He’s got strength and endurance; he played tough and was hard to beat on defense. Offensively, he didn’t blow you away but played unselfish lacrosse and showed some speed on his shot. He ran point on man-up a few times and registered an assist from there. His shot had some mustard on it and some snap. He was recruited quickly in the weeks following Showtime and committed to Syracuse, a program that has landed several midfielders from the west in recent seasons. Among an attractive group of then-uncommitted midfielders at Showtime, Partamian shined as maybe one of the most athletic.

Arguably the most unique event in high school lacrosse, Project 9 is set to take place this weekend in Baltimore, as all-time greats Paul Rabil and Mark Millon spearhead a staff that will lead 67 of the nation’s best recruits during a grueling three-day weekend of training and preparation for the rigors of college lacrosse. Of those 67, an impressive 28 of the juniors and seniors have been honored as Top 100 players here on Recruiting Rundown in September’s rankings.

Players will have five sessions of training at St. Paul’s, Loyola University and Johns Hopkins as well as extensive meetings with film and feedback, yoga sessions and college prep talks with a staff full of former and current MLL standouts. On Sunday, players will be split into teams for a final series of games with gear from sponsors Warrior, New Balance and OT Sports. At the conclusion of the event, ‘Most Likely To Dominate’ positional awards will be handed out.
