One of Long Island's top 2016 defenders, Nick DiPietro of Half Hollow Hills East (NY), has just verbally committed to Syracuse.

A few reports from around the web! He's another Maverik Showcase guy! It looks Carc is passing on some recommendations!

Another player that will surprise the county will be freshman defender, Nick DiPietro, who got some valuable playing time on varsity last year and already has some top colleges who have shown interest in him. - See more at: http://www.laxlessons.com/2013/01/0...ast-ny-senior-attackman/#sthash.HpyGjzFo.dpuf

One of the better defensive prospects in this class based on what I've seen. Nick DiPietro (Half Hollow Hills East, N.Y.)is an athletic and hard-nosed defenseman out of Long Island who covered a lot of ground and showed off great footwork around GLE.

Nick DiPietro (Half Hollow Hills East, N.Y.) may have had one of the better performances of any pole on the afternoon. From what I've been told, he's made visits to schools in the Ivy League, ACC and Big 10. Possesses outstanding speed, allowing him to match feet with quick attackmen and played angles very well around the goal. Also proved to be a big help in the clearing game.

Had a chance to congratulate HCJD at the basketball game the other night.

You could tell he's quite happy with the class.

I'm glad you gave him an official welcome to the best lax family in sport!

As a starter for the Coastals, Pietro’s size and aggressiveness were the first thing that stood out. He attacked his defensive assignment aptly, forcing several turnovers and scooping up key groundballs. He also also able to clear in transition, and was the key playmaker in the Coastals game-winning overtime goal against the Americans Friday evening.
