Class of 2023 New Commit: Wyatt Hottle (MD: Calvert Hall) Midfield

YouTube only has 2020 Highlights.

Quick although undersized; has vision, can shoot on the run, mainly right handed.

Again, all from this one video, two years ago. Found a 14second clip of him scoring this year - didn't appear to grow much in size.

Still like to watch some of these relatively well produced MIAA games. Gotta say I was skeptical of this guy at first because of his size, but the little dude has serious speed and a heck of a first step off the dodge. Far too fast for pretty much every short stick mid in high school and he draws slides nearly every time he dodges with space. Often gets the LSM despite the high end talent all over the offense. Maybe doesn't quite have the stick of a Jordan Wray or Truitt Southerland, but is right there with them when it comes to separating from a defender.

Shades of Joey Sessa at Yale perhaps. But man he may be even smaller than that guy was. Has a nice fast overhand shot to go along with the speed. The main concern with someone like this is getting stuck with them on defense. Can't have a full middie line of guys this size in the ACC, but can probably afford at least 1 in your top 6. Very nice flip by the staff for a '23 class that could have used a little more speed. Also hilarious that we got only the tiniest guy and the largest tank (Jordan Beck) from Calvert Hall.

Not the result Calvert Hall wanted but a lot of footage of guys trying desperately to stay with Hottle in this. Seems to do a good job of dodging with his head up too. Had a lot of assists in this one. So dang small but maybe fast enough to have an impact at the next level. And yes he is #1.

1 goal, 4 assists, 1 hockey assist and a TO. Shown in that vid. Looks like he can initiate offense. Maybe he plays a Salcido type role as a midfielder?

Wyatt Hottle ’23, midfield, Calvert Hall / Syracuse

Hottle was the driving force behind the Cardinals’ comeback. His dodging ability and passing vision made him a tough cover for the Dons. Hottle finished with two goals and three assists. His first goal looked like it was intended to be a pass but ended up in the net, so better to be lucky than good. He was also good, though, and had a fourth-quarter goal on a sweep to push the game out of reach for Loyola. Hottle had the aforementioned back-to-back assists to Shuey Kelly, but the future Orange also set up Nick Steele’s tally.
