New PS interview with Danielle Roach

Among other interesting tidbits, there's this quote from the DA:

"It makes me very, very suspicious about how this came to be from the Syracuse Police Department" Fitzpatrick said of Roach's statement. "It makes me even more determined to make sure that I get their files to stop any further efforts by them to cover this thing up."

Davis said he never identified Fine as the abuser in his conversation with Fox, and that Fox never asked for a name. Davis said he didn’t even mention Syracuse University basketball. He said he didn’t recall Fox ever saying Fine’s name, either.

So there goes the coverup theory.

He just says Fox knew who he was talking about. Davis needs to stop talking. He really needs a lawyer at this point.

Either Davis eventually goes down in flames, or the SPD and DA's office. The line seems to be drawn here.

Wait, wait. Didn't I read somewhere that this was a four-month investigation? Now it was a five-minute investigation? What.

Well I hope they can get past the politics to investigate the case thoroughly and properly and not turn this into a "well we better find something" type thing.

"That's not possible," Fitzpatrick said of her claim that Trunfio didn't return phone calls alleging child sexual abuse. "If she had left a message alleging sexual misconduct on the part of any individual, whether it was Joe Blow or Bernie Fine or anybody in the world, there’s not a chance in the world that Rick Trunfio wouldn’t have returned that phone call. He’s famous for returning phone calls."

So, he thinks she's a liar, but that the PD is lying (covering up) as well. Everybody is lying. If she's not a liar than Trufino shouldn't be famous at all - since he obviously isn't so great at returning calls. Yet another reputation destroyed by these malcontents!!!!

Wait, wait. Didn't I read somewhere that this was a four-month investigation? Now it was a five-minute investigation? What.
The University conducted a 4 month investigation...in 2005. I wish someone would shed some light on why that was started...

It's really something. We now have a person claiming she tried reporting a case of sexual abuse to the DA's office and was ignored. And, we have the DA stating, on record, that the PD was covering it up.

According to SU's initial statement last week, Davis came to them.

Syracuse University's investigation took 4 months.

SPD's was 5 minutes.

If Roach is telling the truth, it sounds like the SPD and Asst. DA were seriously negligent in their jobs in 2002. I pray that SU did the right thing, as it seems they did.

THIS IS THE BIG STATEMENT TO ME. This will tell me if her story has any legs or not. She said she contacted someone in there office. But nobody returned a phone call. She says she called an left a message. They have no record of the call. Fitz said it is impossible that someone would get a message about child abuse and not return a phone call.

----------------

Fitzpatrick said today he had not seen Roach's statement and had not heard her claim that Trunfio didn't return her calls in 2002. "We have no record of that," Fitzpatrick said. "There’s no way to recreate it. I'd have to see the statement to comment. I have no idea if a Danielle Roach called Rick Trunfio or not."
After learning of Roach's claim today, Trunfio planned to start searching his phone logs from 2002, Fitzpatrick said.

She has now implicated the DA's office...this could get ugly real quick for someone...

So if the SPD conducted a 5-minute phone call, and the DA's office conducted a 5-second "erase all" button push on a phone answering machine, then the university's investigation becomes the only source of info from the original time period. Can the DA or SPD force the disclosure of that investigation's remaining artifacts?

Should be easy enough to come up with phone records of when calls were made, how long they lasted, and how many were made shouldnt it?

Wait, wait. Didn't I read somewhere that this was a four-month investigation? Now it was a five-minute investigation? What.
I believe the investigation in 2005 was 4 months. It was the university's investigation.

It baffled me last week, and baffles me even more now, that he doesn't have a lawyer. In the OTL segment today, Schwarz said that Davis now has a victims' advocate but no mention of a lawyer.
