Notre Dame Game Thread...

Bad beat, as in one of those games where you just have to make one more play to close it out.

Too bad, great rally after an uncharacteristic start.

The faceoff loss i can live with but you have to stop the ball. The defender not sliding and letting the guy get to the cage was horrible.

I agree with your point but I think that defender was Mullins. It looked like they put Kavanagh at point on the break - forcing Mullins to pick his poison.

He was either breaking his shut off assignment (and giving Kavanagh a 10-15 yard shot from the slot) or letting the FO specialist take a rip.

Hard to argue with his decision - the D looked unprepared for that scenario.

have to stop the ball. take your chances on an errant pass, bad shot or save. can't let a guy run in and shoot on the doorstep. you can see on replay the defender hesitated and wasn't sure if he should stop ball or stay with the attackman but fast break D 101 is stop the ball.

an offense worth their salt should score every time in a traditional type fast break - there's not much a D can do except not let the middie coming down run all the way to the crease.

Regarding Williams I thought he was victim of some terrible non-calls in OT and late in regulation. He was getting mauled and maimed in the X by Notre Dame guys and for some reason the officials decided not to blow the whistle!
