Offensive motions causing confusion

We haven't been scheming guys open since Marrone was here. It's great to see us helping our QB's and WR's. Gadsden reminds me of Alec Lemon-Not a great "athlete", but knows how to get open and catches everything.

Anae is confident, and fearless. Gilbert wouldn't run the same play twice. (Out Checkered himself. Not chess.) If you've ever played chess with a skilled player? They have repetitive moves that will DEVESTATE you. The laymen are done before ever moving the 1st piece.

I think, last year we went to a Schmidt/Lynch offense early to utilize Tucker. (Gilbert was OUT) I love to see the passing game finally schemed ALIVE. Overall? I have no idea how Schmidt's blocking scheme figures into Anaes concepts. If that was Anae's scheme, i think its fair to say, Purdue neutralized it.

I have a suspicion he's smart enough to listen to the line coach. Schmidt had some pretty damn good plays that helped Tucker run for 1500.

I wanna see these adjustments to Anaes offense. Schmidt is straight up ROCK fight. (The only acceptable oline coach)

Hope Anae learned sonething from this one. (He's a professional. He DID) Love to see him letting Schmidt's oline violence creeping back in....Tucker would be very pleased...

Other than the horsey thing, can you have repetitive moves in the same chess game. :)

On that first one, you can clearly see Tucker being held. And clearly see how open Gadsden was. Glad Shrader fixed that the next time they ran this. Glad Purdue didn't.

OMG this angle is the first time it clearly demonstrates what an amazing absolutely stupendously awesome ball Shrader throws on this to win it, under duress no less cuz #81 weakly whiffs.

One of the best throws I’ve EVER seen at any level. Wow
Yikes 81. Turn in your man card.

Was Mang just going out on his route?

Didn't he have one last year where he knew he was going to get absolutely drilled and didn't care? I have been trying to remember which game so I can go back and compare. I expect him to come back down to earth but it doesn't matter how can you not love the guy

The game winning TD to Alford at the end of the VT game. We believe he was injured on the play because he wasn't quite the same afterwards.

I noticed when I watched Anae's offense at UVA they did a lot of man/gap blocking. I wondered how that would fit with what they were already doing. I saw a lot of gap run plays with zone concepts in the first 3 games.

The first play in the breakdown is a really tough watch. Literally three receivers WIDE OPEN almost immediately after the snap and Shrader does not see a single one.

This happens more than people think.

In the first sequence there were two receivers wide open after he steps back in the pocket and sets his feet, he doesn’t see either one of them to the right. Run first quarterbacks are not going through their progressions. You really have to hope Beck can correct this as we go.

I wonder often he sees plays from under center vs from shotgun too.

That play was the “free” one. At the game I was yelling for what seemed like 10 mins to hit the open guy. That happened a lot. Same with the play he got hurt too.

Agreed and it’s a trend for sure … it was overlooked how often it happened vs Louisville. The protection I thought was decent vs Purdue. Even the announcers were saying he needs to throw the ball. He’s a smart dude who wants to get better, you just have to hope he and Beck Anea are hammering this out in the film room.

He completed 73% of his passes against Louisville and that's counting at least three drops. Not sure how that contributes to your alleged "trend".
