I know it's probably been discussed in previous threads,

BUT...

What would the lineups really look like IF we landed NN??

Questions??

NN - Posible one and done, how do you sit him?

DC2 - The Beast... Big body, soft hands, How does he sit?

Rak - Do you bench such a high recruit? Possibly lose him
both mentally and eventually physically?

My lineup...

First 5:
1 - MCW
2 - BT
3 - CJ
4 - Rak
5 - NN

Second 5:
1 - B Trich
2 - TCooney
3 - JGrant
4 -JSouth
5 - DC2

Red Shirt:
BKeita

Can you believe the talent we've been stockpiling?

Like having hotels on all the spaces on the Broadway side of a Monopoly board!!

MCW
Triche - SR Will start
Southerland - SR Will probably start
Christmas
Noel

Cooney
Coleman
Fair
Mookie - Will probably see a little action as the 4 guard.

Redshirt:
Keita
Grant

It will be a very FAIR CHRISTMAS for cuse fans as they sing the first NOEL

with TRICHE and CARTER-WILLIAMS in the BOEHEIM HOLIDAY SPECIAL

1 - Triche
2 - MCW
3 - Fair (tho I could see JS)
4 - NN
5 - DC2

Why does everyone insist that Keita is redshirting? Not going to happen.

Noel, should he choose to come here, would play the 4.

I think many of the comments about shifting guys around and redshirting Keita are the result of fans trying, in their minds, to make the most attractive setting to lure Noel. I'm as hopeful as anyone else but JB is not going to abandon his plans or the development of other players to accommodate one kid.

1) MCW
2) Triche
Cooney off the bench getting plenty of minutes rotating with MCW and Triche.
3) Fair with JS off the bench
**4) Noel with Christmas off the bench (**This is assuming the NN decision we all want. If not, Christmas, Fair and JS rotate thru the 3 and 4, similar to our guard rotation.)
5) Coleman with Keita off the bench (Coleman as the "starter" in name only, similar to Fab’s and Rak’s freshman years. Keita to average 25+ minutes per game.)

Grant will get a few minutes here and there, similar minutes to what MCW had this year.

Why couldn't it happen? If Noel does choose to come here, how will Keita get minutes in the middle over Noel, Coleman and Christmas? Those guys are, or will be, better than Keita going into the season. Barring injury or flat out disappointment from Noel/Christmas, when would he play? Fair and Southerland could also play the "4" anyhow.

How would Keita redshirting solely as a result of Noel coming here have anything to do with anybody thinking it would make SU more appealing to NN??? What does what any SU fan thinks have any relevance? The only way that redshirt happens is if NN comes here and his decision is not going to be based on a handful of minutes that Keita may or may not have.

No way in the world that Keita plays more minutes next year than DC2.

Bees hit the starting lineup right on the head - although, I think Brandon will likely play the 2 guard and MCW the point.

Keita was relegated to the bench for long stretches when fab was out. How much would he have played this tournament if we had DC2 and NN? :noidea:
redshirt Keita

I had a wet dream last night..imagining Noel playing a wing in the zone... Southerland/Fair on the other wing is a clear step up over KJo on the other wing as well.

I was thrilled when DC3 chose SU and felt at that point we would be special next year. Noel appears to be a once in a decade player and it would be superb if he chooses SU as well. However it turns out, we have a very strong roster next year. I think I recall when DC3 had his news conference that a senior "fellow" of this board posted a prophesy that we'd be very good this past year and "great" next year. I hope and believe he was right. We lose leadership with Kris & Scoop moving on, but we're skilled, deep, and experienced heading into next season with or without Noel. Kudos to the program, coaches, players, and fans for raising the standing of SU, & by inference the Syracuse area, to elite in the basketball world. JB & the players provide a superb product, but very few college or pro teams have as strong an active basketball fan base as SU. That's part of what makes SU special.

I think we'll miss Scoop more than KJo. Joseph, although a great kid, was the defacto captain, being only 2 seniors. Very well-spoken in front of cameras, great ambassador of the program, but CJ and Southy will more than pick up the loss, IMO.

1. MCW
2. Triche
3. Dirty
4. DC2
5. NN

Sure there could be some defensive issues with DC2 but if beefy RJ could do it, so can DC2. The rest of this starting D would just be incredibly nasty with BT, MCW, and NN leading the defensive intensity.
I chose Dirty over CJ because of the outside shot. This would space the floor better for BT to drive and dish. It would also make the first line of subs Whitehot, CJ, and Rak. Cooney would be the 3 pt specialist, and CJ would offer midrange - still good offensive spacing.

I wouldn't mind subbing in Cooney and Southy together for a lineup of BT-Cooney-South-Rak-Coleman and bomb away from 3 for a few possessions and try to blow the game open around the 12 minute mark

That does sound pretty potent.
The only problem with that it the starting lineup would be without a real sharpshooter allowing the apposing D's to really pack the middle.

Keita started to look like the Keita we thought was going to emerge midway through his freshman year. I think he surprises people next year, with or without NN.

I could see the lineup going a couple of different ways:

Most probable:

MCW
Triche
Fair
Noel
Rak

Coleman off bench, shifting either Noel or Rak to the 4. Southerland off bench as the 6th man. Cooney off bench.

MCW
Triche
Fair
Noel
Coleman

DC2 just too good to keep out of the lineup in this scenario. Rak spells the bigs.

MCW
Triche
Fair
Southerland
Noel

In this scenario Southerland gets the nod, giving us a tremendously athletic frontcourt, with lots of versatility. Rak / Coleman duke it out for backup minutes at the 5 / 4. This reminds me a lot of our "best" lineup in 2010, with two natural 3's playing alongside one big.

You are benching neither Noel nor DC2

1 MCW/BT
2 BT/Cooney
3 CJ/Southerland/Grant
4 NN/Rak
5 DC2/Rak/BMK
