PWO OFFER> JACKSON LAK 2025 TRINITY PAWLING SCHOOL, PAWLING, NYPWO Offers SMU, Syracuse
I believe it's 85 scholarship and 20 walk-ons allowed for the 105 roster limit. At least that's what they are doing in the SEC.Is the team still doing walkons under the new 105 limit?
I think the new rule caps the size of the roster at 105 but as I understand it, there is no limit on scholarships other than the cap on roster size.I believe it's 85 scholarship and 20 walk-ons allowed for the 105 roster limit. At least that's what they are doing in the SEC.
Hmm. I thought it was all or nothing, is being on the team means a scholarship, but maybe this is how it could work.I think the new rule caps the size of the roster at 105 but as I understand it, there is no limit on scholarships other than the cap on roster size.
The expectation is that SEC and B1G programs will use all 105 spots on their rosters for scholarship athletes, effectively ending the role of the walk on at these schools.
Not sure anyone knows what the ACC, B13 and the lower conferences will do. Dabo Swinney is very upset. They have 131 players in their roster now and are going to have to get rid of a lot of their walk ons. From what he said, it sounds like they are going to fill all 105 spots with scholarship players.
I don’t think anyone has asked Coach Brown what Syracuse is going to do but with the massive class SU is signing, all apparently on scholarship, I am guessing they are going to have significantly more than 85 players on scholarship next season.
If they end up at 100, the rest of their roster spots would presumably go to walk ons.
Very interested to see how the many schools at the P4 level handle this major rule change.
If/when the big split comes, the decisions made here may foreshadow the future for many schools.
I submitted the question for Fran’s weekly show but they didn’t ask it.I think the new rule caps the size of the roster at 105 but as I understand it, there is no limit on scholarships other than the cap on roster size.
