Steven, welcome to

Gentlemen, Steven Pickard please.
Towards that end, was interested in where Steven stands in terms of strength with some of the linemen SU iin the class of 2025.

NameBenchpressSquatDeadlift
Steven Pickard340505595
Matt Hawn350415520
Kahlil Stewart405700605
Skylar Harvey315??

I would have included Washington, Shepherd and Scatliffe but I couldn't find any numbers for them.

The thing is, Steven is in the class of 2026. He has a year to improve his numbers. But they are already good and are going to get better.

Man, Kahlil Stewart is a beast! If a true frosh is ever going to come in and make an immediate impact, it is probably going to be him. It is a shame he was not an early enrollee.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. There's a photo in the Syracuse.com article about Steven Pickard. The photo is of Steve Pickard (our new recruit) and an SU player, Jake Pickard. The picture, taken in the dome, shows Jake Pickard in his SU uniform. It's probably before the 2016 Colgate game.

The uniform is pretty hellacious for an SU home uni. Gray jersey and blue pants. No helmet in sight.
Is Steven related to former player Jake Pickard?

Couldn't they have done better than shipping container corrugated look?
I’m not really a fan. It has its place, but it seems to be everywhere on campus now, and I think it’s the wrong look for a college campus. I have to imagine in this instance, that speed and cost were factors, but there’s really no design to the facility. I’m glad we have it, but as an architect, it’s more like the built version of a form adjacency diagram. Sorry for the “design critique “

Form adjacency diagram. That’s what I was going to say too. :p

And people were worried when we took his commitment early
There are some things the board does a pretty good job forming opinions on. Other things, not so much.

We as a group have historically done poorly judging the quality of early commits. especially, ones where we were the only major school to offer.

It is still early and maybe Steven is going to turn out to be a big mistake. But I am not betting on that right now.

One thing cannot be debated:

We are accumulating a formidable number of very large, athletic players on the offensive line.

There is going to be fierce competition for starting jobs there.

OK. Deleted and redid a post I had just done due to a mistake. I can't see the full rankings but this camp has basically all the best kids in Florida. If he was the OL MVP he has to be way up there.

This is a big friggin deal if he was ranked #1 OL at this camp out of 1158 players! These are basically the best kids in Florida. Check out these rankings in the below link.

Some sites best be re-ranking this kid after this event.

I think thats oline mvp although it doesnt clarrify it. i would be good with that as it means he looked better tht some really high ranked kids. Great job Steve
Not exactly sure. There is an OL ahead of him in the overall rankings so not sure how Pickard could be OL MVP. But there has to be some excellent kids there looking at the list of top overall players. MVP at anything there has to be impressive.

OL is such a crapshoot. If you have size and the athleticism, you take your best shot and coach them up. Hard position to scout.
