I was born about 9 months later.

    Probably not a coincidence.

January 6, 1946 Syd Barrett was born.

some 41 years later, Syd would be the name of my 3' bong...

today was also the Kerrigan knee smash by gillooly or whatever his name was.

January 17, 1971...SuperBowl V: the pokes lost it.

January 17, 1991 Desert Storm starts.

for us, that was the night of the 16th, but it was the 17th there.

will never forget that night. I believe it was a Monday and during the game v storz, the announcer hit the loud speaker and said something like either we had just declared War or if it was already declared...we were going to start acting on it.

we beat storz in OT, then I remember running from the Dome back to my fraternity house to watch it on CNN. an odd move for me because I usually ran to Harry's after games for a # of drinks.

    important night...

I would love to see this kind of thread for basketball and football, like the way Rolling Stone used to do 20 years ago on the billboard charts.

The toy company Wham-O has taken notice of a plastic flying disc invented by WWII veteran pilot Walter Morrison, who's been selling his Pluto Platters on the beaches of Santa Monica, California. He sells the rights for the Pluto Platter to Wham-O, which soon changes its name to the Frisbee.

keeping with HOFCeluk suggestion that this is the obituary board...

January 30, 1972...The Bogside Massacre. aka Bloody Sunday.

some of you likely only know of it because of a little song written by Paul Hewson, Dave Evans and co...
