I had some Alaska locals show me what happens to a cup of hot water at 50 below zero. She tossed it in the air, and it froze as soon as it came out of the cup. Thought it was pretty cool. Sorry it isnt the best vid, but you can get the picture

I just saw this last week on Larry the Cable Guy.

Only he was standing in a meat freezer. :)

lol I wish I would have been in a meat freezer. 50 below is crazy, even after being plugged in all night, the car didnt wanna start. The dog takes forever to go to the bathroom, Direct TV at the bar froze up for a bit. bah, bring on summer

I also live in Alaska near where Miss Ewing lives. The other day, while I was getting my son out of his car seat, I put my car key in my mouth while I was undoing the buckles. When I pulled it out, parts of my tongue and lips came with it!! Is this my life!?!?! Makes me long for the winters of CNY.

Why is no one dressed warmly? I'd be wearing freaking bed, if it was 50 below. I've witnessed 30 below, but never -50. Holy crap!

-50 below? isn't that our 3 point shooting % lately ?

Lol it was warm in the bar.. We ran back on pretty quick. I have another video that I took with my phone (I was in the back round wearing orange) but you can hear everyone screaming at me to "shut the door" lol

If you can hack it in Syracuse you'll do just fine in AK.

Spent four years at Eielson Afb outside Fairbanks. First winter there it hit 65 below. Damn was I glad to leave!

One thing I know about weather like that, you don't have to worry about wind chill because there usually is no wind. I remember several times while growing up in Upstate NY it would reach -35° and you could look out the window and see all the chimneys across the street with smoke going straight up. Rubber and plastic don't fare well in that kind of weather either.

around 20 below you get some wind.. Thats a killer. Yea, rubber and plastic hate this kind of weather. The trunk lever on my wifes car snapped off the other day. A guy in my unit slammed his door at 40 below, and the window smashed out. I bet that was the coldest ride home of his life lol
