Does D'Antoni last the full season?

Melo didn't pass the ball the last 15 minutes of the game. All 17 foot jump shots and beyond. Not sure what's wrong there. He got outplayed badly by Galinari.

Fire DAntoni!
The NY Knicks have always been about blue-collar defense, not run&gun Phoenix-style offense.
Its just a matter of time before DAntoni is canned & they can bring in a coach that wants his team to play defense.
As for Melo, he has a tendency to be a black hole in there, but whats the alternative? Amare isn't a stand-still player,
he has to be set up- & Melo's the only option down low.
They need a scoring PG to set things up...& an emphasis on defense.

at some point people are going to have to admit that melo is just not that good

Anthony is a top 10 NBA player, and is clutch. He's won a title in college, and I'm sure he'll get one in the NBA. I hope this was a joke.

Here in NYC, I have been messed thnx to Time Warner. However, at our Syracuse bar (Village Pourhouse), they put the game on after our game so I was actually glued. The irony about you dissing Melo in the last 15 minutes was that in the first 3 quarters he was something like 3-17 for 7 pts (give or take a pt). After that he was a stud (more so in the 4th than the OT's). Specifically, Melo had 17 in the 4th. So if you are going to diss him, it would be for the first 3 quarters, not the last 15 min--did you watch the game??? And to answer your first question, I do think D'Antoni has to go, NOW.

my comment had nothing to do with tonight's game. it is a body of work. People need to realize that being a great NBA player is more than the ability to accumulate offensive stats, which melo is really good at no doubt. he won a college championship...thanks for that melo. not sure what that has to do with his nba career which this post is about. just look at what happened to the knicks vs the nuggets after that trade.

Um wrong. Wes Johnson and Jonny Flynn are not that good. Neither is the team that surrounds Melo, including Amare.
Melo is one of the best players in the world. Not hyperbole.

Why is this a thread? The Knicks suck and I'm so used to losing at this point that this not newsworthy at all.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. And the reason I feel "qualified" to even comment is that I used to start an occasional Knick thread now and then a few years ago, when they started turning things around (even before there was a pro board here). So tonight, after losing yet again (can't recall the last time they actually won a game--think it was probably the 6ers on the night we beat Nova), I have to admit that the Knicks do not deserve a special thread on the 'Cuse hoop board (as opposed to the pro sports board) on the night that our #1 team suffered their first loss to a terrible Notre Dame team. (okay, maybe not terrible, but definitely not good)

I'm just sick of how bad this team is and has been. I'm almost glad that MSG is blacked out right now in my area. Even during the Isiah Thomas era I would watch at least 80% of the games every single year, I'm just so disgusted at this point.

Was atrocious the first 3 quarters but hit a bunch of big shots in the 4th and OT... just not enough. Knicks are a train wreck and all things considered have one of the worst rosters in the league. If I'm the GM I get what I can for Amare--he barely touches the ball anymore and ties up a ton of cap space. Get a pg and a shooter and go from there.

I never liked Amare for the Knicks. He's a black-hole when the ball is passed to him, he turns the ball over a lot and that's when he's healthy, and he's really not that great of a defender. He gets abused by guys bigger then him, which I'm okay with but then he gets abused by everybody else too.

You could be describing Melo or Amare here.. :)

Well that is true. Before Melo came though I was really starting to dislike Amare, the things I mentioned and then he would take the stupidest shots instead of passing the ball. Melo has some of the same issues but for me the difference is that Melo is a proven scorer in a half-court offense and that is where Amare is at his worse.

But I don't disagree at all with your general point - it could definitely be applied to both

Amare to the Knicks reminds me of when Kenyon Martin went to Denver. Both thrived when they played with world class PG's and both were made out to be better than they really were. Both were wayyy overpaid. Only difference is Kenyon was better suited to play in Denver's system than Amare is for the Knicks.

Amare was fine without Melo there. He was thriving in New York. Now everything runs through Melo and their games are not complimentary. Neither of them defends or looks for teammates.

D Wade and Lebron's games are not complimentary either, but they are so good, unselfish and so efficient, that it doesn't even matter. I guess the Knicks thought they could also just throw random superstars together and it would work also.

The only thing I will say is that the offense was really good post trade last year. It's terrible now.
