Hit by the NIU situation. They were expecting to play in the Heart of Texas Bowl (played at the Cotton Bowl). When NIU got the BCS slot, La. Tech's bowl spot went poof.

When you are a Louisiana Tech and aren't getting an auto bid to a bowl your conference has a tie in with, you don't take any chances. It's not like they didn't have any idea NIU could be BCS. You take the first bowl that asks.

I totally agree... just indicating that they were led to believe that they'd have a better option.
