Supposedly there is an offer out there for Phil to be GM - decision expected next week.

Phil has no front office experience, but he certainly has credibility. I can't imagine Phil would be interested unless the deal included zero interference from Dolan. If that was the case it would be great for the Knicks to get anybody not named Isaiah to run the franchise knowing Dolan is strictly in the background.

Such a deal might also affect Carmelo.

If Phil wanted him back, it could hugely impact Melo's decision.

If Phil wants to blow it up, that obviously would also hugely impact Carmelo.

Speaking of Melo, I think he would be foolish to opt out & then re-sign with the Knicks. He could wait until 2015 & be part of a big free agent class & have a lot more clarity about what would be the state of the dismal Knick franchise at that time, plus his extension would go to a year later.

He should only opt-out if he wants to leave.

Phil Jackson and James Dolan...yeah that's gonna work out well. IMO Dolan made the story up and leaked it to the NY press to bump the Melo to Chicago Bulls story out of the headlines for a while.

Isola is reporting it so this definitely did not come from Dolan or the Knicks...if Dolan were to leak it, it would come via Berman, vaccaro, or Hahn.

Isola is Dolan enemy #1. Knicks essentially have an open slate after next season. Very little money on the books and an actual draft pick in 15...in the right hands (not dolan) they could have a bright future...

Sure if they hired Jackson and gave him full autonomy with Dolan only supplying the cash he could very well attract stars to play at MSG and build a championship team. IMO it's just not in Dolan's DNA to pull back and not be a meddling fool. Which Jackson would never put up with.
