Well, in round-robin competitions, they have a schedule to comply with, figure-skating, etc. so they have to do something like that in the preliminary rounds. I don't know but if I had to have to guess, the medal round games are played until there's a legitimate goal.

Yes, that's right (although it was Dominik Hasek). One would hope they've changed that by now.

Also not a goal in high school, juniors, and college hockey. Should have been whistled dead before the shot.

Heck of a game. Tough result for Russia.
 
I know jack squat about hockey. I haven't watched a second of NHL this year, but even I was into that game and have the DVR set for the game tomorrow to watch when I get home from church.
