Please. Arguably the biggest bucket of the game on a pretty baby hook with the left, also had a nice putback on a man's rebound.

Had a tough turnover where he took his eye off the ball but this dude needs to get the ball a bit more downlow. Watch him, he repeatedly gets position.

Remember in 2010 we'd always dump it into AO in the post on the 1st or 2nd possession to get him involved? Let's do that now mmmkay.
More or less agree. Rak obviously isn't the scorer that AO was, but it feels like the more you get him involved the harder he plays. Give him a couple looks early to get him fully engaged.

Yep. The baby hooks look good. He just needs more chances in game situations.

Yeah, I've been harping on this now for a couple years. Triche and MCW were terrible when it came to feeding the post.

It's the same with a lot bigs, they don't get touches, they tend to float a bit more. It's worth working the ball in there for plenty of reasons, hell, even if he misses CJ and Jerami are pretty decent on follow-ups. As Rak shows he can finish around the rim it's going to make the rest of the offense that much better though. Hopefully he can keep it up.

I agree. He's actually made some very nice moves this year. And he has gotten good at working and getting position. There's no reason he can't score 8+ ppg on a nice shooting %, if he gets the opportunities.

I agree with getting Rak the ball more, he doesn't get a lot of credit but he does a really good job of sealing his guy off and its up to guards to look his way

I think you and I have been this board's biggest Rak supporters.

Another note- Rak is a very good FT shooter for a starting center.

We're still absorbing some learning curve, both in terms of players knowing what they can do, but also in their knowing what the others can do. I've always thought it was interesting to notice this, and fun to watch it while it happens. Ennis will learn the responsibility that requires him to create more offense sooner, and part of that will involve him learning that RAK is an actual "go to" option. And RAK will learn that the better he finishes, the more they'll look for him inside. Other good stuff will happen along the same lines, although it will take a little time, and we'll need a little patience. I'm a patient man. Watching kids learn is a great experience, and once again, it's a great time to be an Orange fan.

Excelsior. :)

It's one of the great things about college basketball.

Rak is very good at finishing or getting fouled trying. At a near what, 70% clip at the ft? I love that.

and drawing fouls inside is key . there simply aren't many schools that can match our depth underneath.

One of the biggest obstacles in this happening to date is JB's quick hook with Rak and insertion of Baye. Ennis can't really learn what Rak can actually do on offense and develop game chemistry with him if he's sitting on the bench and Baye is manning the center position. Obviously that will go up while DCII remains on the shelf as someone will have to absorb minutes that would have gone to him.

But, quite clearly JB values defense at the center position over all else, because I think Rak clearly brings more on offense, shot blocking and rebounding at the moment than anyone else.

lol...I was just reading through and was going to mention you. You were also on Team (could u all please stop wishing injuries on our PG) Scoop during his junior year. That was a lonely time. :noidea:

Our bandwagon was very empty during that stretch.

After 34minutes of the revolving door that is the Syracuse center position I thought the key to the win yesterday was JB putting Rak in for those last 6 minutes and he really played well with that offensive rebound put back, lefty jump hook, 2 defensive rebounds, breaking up that lob pass to the 7ft'er

I completely agree..he has really battled hard in the post this year to gain very good position. It has to be frustrating for him to have sealed his man and not have a teammate even look his way. He has shown ability to finish with either hand, and even hit some mid range shots this year. I believe his offensive value is very under appreciated not just by us, but by his teammates. Another thing I have noticed, is he is moving to the open spot better when a teammate drive and has made him self available for dump off passes for easy lay-ups and dunks. Teammates need to continue to look to get him this easy points because he's open. I would like to see him improve on his roll offense, because with his athleticism he should be able to score off those situations by the end of the year and really take this offense to another level with another scoring option. It's really great that this team is playing so well, but also has room for growth to become very dynamic by do or die time. Go Cuse!!
