Pitt's Durand Johnson out for season

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh sophomore forward Durand Johnson will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL and meniscus in his right knee in Saturday's win over Wake Forest.

The 6-foot-6 Johnson was injured while driving to the basket with 5:30 remaining in Pittsburgh's 80-65 victory. He was fouled on the play and made two free throws before leaving. He is expected to undergo surgery within the next week and to be back in 9 to 12 months.

Johnson was blossoming as Pitt's sixth man, averaging 8.8 points and 3.0 rebounds. He is second on the Panthers (15-1, 3-0 ACC) with 22 3-pointers.

Pitt coach Jamie Dixon says he is "heartbroken" over Johnson's injury.

Well, Pitt losing their 6th man and the 2nd best three-point-shooter bodes well for SU on the 18th. I was thinking the Pitt game would be trouble. I still think the WF away game could be a trap game just before the Duke game. But if all the star align, knock on wood and basketballs, if the Orange go 20-0 up to the Duke game, beating Duke would make us 21-0 and an all-time school record for the best start. How awesome would that story line be for the Duke game!!!!
