plays like this is whats confusing

We are in 2 TE. the play call ends up being deep slant. tommy ends up throwing it away cause its not there.. but with the coverage they were running its not a play that works most of the time. that was the time to tale the shot.. no safety is going to help on the wide side and we had 2 TEs

but again what are the TE and Adams doing.. right on the edge of getting a penalty for blocking down field. and both tackles whiffs blocks again. if the tackles make any kind of block Tommy has no checkdown available so what kind of call is this?

Check down was supposed to be Neal but he’s running blocks. This is supposed to
be a chip block and then run the route. However, they guy was coming to strong so he had to stay in to protect Devito

Either throw it deep to jackson who is running past the safety or come back to Riley who is open with no safety and tons or room to lead the throw. its a terrible job of coverage by NC state just a wad of useless guys at the 40 and we end up again running to the right and throwing it away.. even the dump down to the RB is going to be hard to cover if he leaks left but he doesnt release either.

Don't worry, he threw that one 20 yards out of bounds with absolutely no pressure. A good pass to Riley or Jackson is a TD there. Both were blowing by the safeties.

That's a really weird one because one of the early "criticisms" of Tommy was he likes to throw it deep too much. I really think he doesn't trust the OL at all so he's always worried about that instead of going through his reads. Not sure how that gets fixed.

Even if the answer is yes, we still need to bring in one or two QB recruits, at least. Devito only has two years left after this. QB recruiting has been fairly abysmal.

He would not have made the first down here and it's 3rd and 8 but why isn't he running and at least trying? Minimum he runs to the 30 ? maybe? What's to say something doesn't break open there.

I dont think he can be fixed unless HE changes. He isn't seeing the field and he simply panics. Maybe more game time.. maybe maturity.. maybe he doesn't have it..I hate to be a jerk but what Im seeing is indicative of low football IQ. either way we are fooked as there are no other options

Yep. He does have an LB between him and WR, but the LB is close to the line of scrimmage. Needs to get it over the LB...then it's an easy completion.
