At least my attempt at one. Just going to throw these out there for now. There will almost certainly be portal add/deletes between now and august.

One of these things, is not like the others...

Linton - eat a sammich!!! Or ten!!

He's basically built like Eli Hughes - which is awesome for a SG or SF, not so much for a DE.

We desperately need a Goode, experienced DT with beef to add to this roster.
Maybe even 2 DT's.

At least all the young'uns have pretty decent size to build on.

Looks good. I'd put Hannah or Alijah Clark ahead of Foster on the second team even though both were injured in the spring.

I think this is the year Kyle Acker breaks out and dominates.

Great stuff Go. This really also puts into perspective the thread on the staffs focus on getting ACC level sized guys.

The DL numbers of course have been of concerns but then you look at LB and love where we are there.

Thanks as always for putting these kind of things together.

Cornerback drops off a cliff after the 1s. Hope those 2 stay healthy and Isaiah Johnson is game ready.

Not sure our open scholarship number, but 2 DL, 1 OL, 1 TE transfer would be ideal. We all know how things go in November around here.

DL is in horrific shape.

It's in pretty good shape for 2023 and even moreso for 2024.

But 2022, ugh. I wish I was as optimistic as some on the board are. I don't see it. Hopefully a couple older transfers are out there (or soon will be out there) and will see the opportunity to play right away.

Huh?

I think horrific is a big overstatement. Linton has been a noticeable playmaker when he has played. They have done a good job of recruiting to their profile at DE the last three cycles.

Lockett looked very good for a true freshman last year , I get they are young but that doesn’t equate to horrific

In the 4-3-4, the tackles are supposed to be 300 pounders who stuff the tun and take up blockers so the 250 pound ends can make plays. I assumed that in the 3-3-5 all three linemen would be tackle sized and would be geared to stop the run and set things up for the linebackers to make plays. Instead they all seem end-sized. Is the 3-3-5 just set up for speed and gang-tackling or are we just undersized up front?

Linton needs to stay healthy and maintain weight.

The depths not sufficient, not is the size.

Im beating a dead horse, I know, but it is a major flaw.

Its movement based scheme. Its not your typical 3-4 defense. They need quicker and more explosive lineman to perform all the loops, stunts in the defense. If guys aren't in the right fits it hurts the overall scheme. Duke and Georgia tech games in 2020. Those are prime examples of what happens when guys are not in the right spots.

I wouldn't call DL horrific by any means, but it's by far the most concerning position group on this team. A team that otherwise is looking pretty decent on paper at least. Goode would be, well, great, I feel like Mesidor might be like Verse to where we have no prayer now that he has blown up. However, the portal is going to see a lot more members after all spring practices are done, hopefully we can grab Goode and someone to be determined as a second guy on the line
