The Professional Box Lacrosse Association (PBLA) have announced the seven initial markets who will host teams for their inaugural lacrosse season, beginning December 2022.

  • Binghamton, New York
  • Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Elmira, New York
  • Hampton Roads (Virginia)
  • New England (Manchester, Springfield)
  • Syracuse, New York
  • Trenton, New Jersey
The PBLA is weighing additional markets and will make further announcements as new communities and teams are brought onboard.

Beginning today, fans will be able to nominate team names for the community they’re most excited to cheer for. After two weeks of nominations, on August 2nd, fans will then vote on a team name from the four most exciting submissions selected by the league. The name with the most votes will become the official name of the community’s professional lacrosse team. The fan who submitted the winning name first will win a pair of season tickets.

The PBLA management team also announced today that Russ Buller will be joining the PBLA as the league’s Chief Player Performance Officer. Buller is a multiple award-winning athlete with an illustrious career as a competitor, coach, and manager. Formerly, Buller was the strength and conditioning coach for the Sand Diego Padres, a division one head track and field coach, assistant athletic director for Tulane University, and is a member of the LSU Athletic Hall of Fame. PBLA is proud to welcome Buller and his expertise in keeping players at peak competitive condition. With the addition of Buller, and the rampant rising popularity of lacrosse, PBLA CEO Carmen Kesner is feeling highly optimistic about the start of the season this year.

“The PBLA is thrilled to further support the number one growing sport over the last 15 years, by placing professional teams in lacrosse hotbeds across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, said Kesner. Based on our exhaustive research, we firmly believe these diverse markets are eager to experience the fastest, most physical and exciting brand of professional lacrosse ever played. Our objective is to continue to support this wave of lacrosse popularity through growth into other markets across the country. So, if you’re excited about what we’re creating but don’t have a PBLA team coming to your city yet, stay tuned.”

I could have gotten behind sasquatch. Probably could have filled in for mascot duties as well.

Flow? Sparklemuffins? Horrendous to even make those choices. Revolution and Sasquatch are ok I guess. Spark is very bland...and yeah does sound like a wnba team.

Personally can't picture Donohue playing box. Just played like a West Genny field lax guy through and through. Would love to check out a game or two. Entertainment value always high with indoor lax.

That’s shocking. I mean in the videos I’ve seen, it seems like all 17 people in attendance were enjoying themselves.

Why start a new league instead of joining with and expanding the NLL.
