SU, KU, MSU, AU? WSU, UF and VU right behind? lots can change but i think 2 of those first 4 at least are constants

KU = Kansas?

they certainly arent a 1 seed as of today. They may have to win out to get a 1 seed.

Come selection time, there could easily be several teams who are deserving of a #1 seed who won't get one.

When it comes down to it, getting a #1 vs a #2 seed doesn't really mean all that much, as long as you get the region you want.

My good friend, I think we are a long way away from being locked in.

I agree way too early. Look what has happened to Wisconsin, Ohio State and Iowa State the last two weeks. Syracuse has 2 away games before the Duke game at home in a week and also the three away game in a week closing at Duke.

Thats kinda universal at this point but we have an inside track on it as does zona and wich st. 4th I say goes to nova. Ku is a 2-3 right now.

Not really. Today was a huge step in getting there. Not many losses on our schedule. We are well on our way. Much like 09-10 and 11-12.

Duke game is just another game. Of course the names on the jersey and coaches make it big but as for big games.. its not as big as today or @ pitt. If duke goes on a roll that changes things. They are really limited on the boards tho and need turnovers so..

I'm pretty sure we will land in the East as either the one or the two. BUT... MSU, NOVA, PITT, DUKE, WISCONSIN, KANSAS, WICHITA STATE, FLORIDA AND ARIZONA ARE GEARING UP FOR THE TOP TEN SEEDS ALONG WITH OUR SYRACUSE ORANGE.

Well on our way, sure. But locked in? There are way too many variables.

As of this moment, my eyes tell me that the 5 best teams are (in alpha order) - Arizona, Kansas, Michigan State, Syracuse, and Villanova.

But it is only mid-January.

Cheers,
Neil

No they are not a #1 seed, but they have a good opportunity to rise in the highly respected (by RPI) big 12.

They do not have to win out. They have 4 losses, and I can certainly see a scenario where they would get a 1 seed with 7 losses.

Not that we would lose 5 games, but if we did the Kansas resume would be miles better. Given Kansas OOC schedule, and conference schedule that is as tough as any conference, they have a 2 or 3 loss cushion on pretty much anybody outside the B12 or B10.

I agree. Right now, a 5 loss season may not be enough to lock up a 1 seed for us. To me 5 is the maybe, maybe not number.

And with the 4 rather tough road games to end the final 8, I don't think we can be a "lock" until we win one of those games (and run the rest)

Its looking pretty damn good however ... but we need to wait until at least at Pitt to call a lock, from my view.

The only team that has not been mentioned that I think could rise to a one seed is Iowa. They have the hardest Bi10 schedule, so they can build a nice resume.

Kansas is in a stronger league, so they can rack up more quality wins from now until March. SU's challenge is to avoid the RPI draining bad losses.

The ACC tourney might be huge for our seed this year. The old boys in the room are waiting for the last few games of the year to go down before deciding the 1 seeds. Still not sure if it is a benefit or detriment by playing on selection Sunday.

yeah... 7 may be a slight stretch, but i just looked over their schedule... its pretty legit. i could def see 5 or 6 or maybe 7 with help and still getting a 1 seed.
