Syracuse, N.Y. — De'Jon Wilson was left without a position when Colorado's defense switched to a 3-4 scheme last offseason.
The defensive end had contributed in each of the previous two campaigns, totaling 19 tackles, a fumble recovery and half a sack, but struggled to make the transition to outside linebacker. So much so, that he didn't play a snap for the Buffaloes in 2015.
"He's really not an outside linebacker and he doesn't have the size to be a 3-4 end," CU defensive line coach Jim Jeffcoat said in a phone interview. "It wasn't anything he did."
Now at Syracuse as a graduate transfer, Wilson is back to playing his natural position — and he has an opportunity to earn his first starting job. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Wilson brings size, strength and experience to a group of defensive ends that also didn't play last season...
