Interesting. We offered him previously. his stats are pretty good at 190 passing yards per game and 88 rushing yards per game with a decent completion % and 13.66 yds/comp. I know VT had a down year. I see he didn't start the last game at Clemson but Braxton Burmeister who played instead did not do well. Why is he leaving?

Sorry UVA was their last game which Hooker didn't play in. Hooker only played a few snaps in the 3rd quarter of the Clemson game but took a bad shot and probably got a concussion. Burmesiter played OK against UVA which was the last game but nothing spectacular against a bad team.

Hooker has two years of eligibility left. I suspect he is going to a place where he will be promised the starting job for the next two years. That won’t happen here. He is from Greensboro, NC. I bet he ends up at a school near there, for a school that has an opening for immediate playing time. I think NC State and Wake has QBs for next year. Maybe Duke? If not there, maybe a place like App State or ECU.

I believe Patterson has 3 years of eligibility left. If we take a QB transfer, I would think it would be someone with 3 years of eligibility left, who is willing to wait a season, learn the system, and then be in a great position to win the starting job. The problem with Quincy is that he is from Chicago and it looks like he wants to get closer to home. He has a crystal ball to North Dakota State already.

My guess is that with Devito, Morgan, Markiewicz and Lamson in the fold, it is unlikely we take a transfer this year. Next year, I would think it is far more likely. We would probably like to add an experienced QB with playing time at the P5 level to join all the young bucks in the QB room. SU would be a lot more attractive to a QB with a year or two of remaining eligibility going into 2022 as well.

Assuming Tommy only plans on playing one more year. I am sure he would love to have a huge senior season and then get drafted and start his pro career. Lots of variables in play here.
