I wouldn't put too much emphasis on an all-star game performance.
Literally 0. He's had no coaching from our staff yet. I like to see some intangibles in games like this, that's about it. These kids have worked together for less than a week, well after most of their seasons have ended.
His WR's did not help him at all to start the came and yeah to many overthrows.
"The Big Arm QB DeVito," but but but, I was told....
Dohn will drop him to a 2 star after today.
Slight concern the kid may prove to be a workout wonder; hope Dungey starts the next 2 years...
And raise him to a 5 star if he flipped to Rutgers(ha ha)
It's not just Dohn, they circled the wagons on the arm strength issue months ago and refuse to back off... I questioned it then in regards to both DeVito and Coan... I usually agree with Garcia, but, he was off on this one.
I am not worried about that at all, he has done very well on the field at Bosco but certainly want Dungey to start the next two years.
And how do you factor in all the drops today?
Didn't watch most of the game, but the 1st series Tommy looked like he was drilling the fastball on short out passes. Couldn't have hurt to use some touch to make a more catchable ball... He should be really good, I love his release motion, but he may not be the second coming immediately...
Whoever would believe that of any high school kid is a dope
Dungey is one of the top 15 QB in the nation this year as a true sophomore. Yes, my opinion, but do you really think that some HS kid with nice accolades is going to swoop in and wrestle the job from him (health notwithstanding)? On performance? You sound resigned to this somehow.
People here need to be realistic about their own expectations of our incoming kids (hoops too). DeVito is quite talented, but his born on date is 2019 at the earliest (and that supposes he'll nudge out Culpepper, which is not a given).
Enjoy Dungey. He's very good and will get better with time and OL growth. All ACC talent. 2019 is a ways off.
The only problem with Eric is if he is your number 1, then you need a 1A that can come in at a moments notice...
Probably have one who has been in Babers system for one year. His name is Rex Culpepper
Hope so. But, I would go even further and play the "other" guy concurrently with Dungey from the start of the season...
Huh? I love Dungey. All I was saying in response to another post is Devito isn't some workout wonder but I certainly want Dungey to start for the next two years. I agree with everything you say
Tommy had a good game in my eyes. Receivers dropped 5 balls, sure they where "fastballs" but these are the best of the best and should have been caught. His OL did him no favors and the DEs where on him fast. He gets the ball out quick and has good zip. He needs some work on the weight room for sure.
His red shirt year will be very important. I'm happy we have Eric, Rex, Mahoney ready for next year. We should have some fun battles at the QB position going forward.
Separate names with a comma.
