Question for frequent travelers

I have the same philosophy...it's so easy to bounce around I'm never quite sure why people spend so long in one place. I love London and we go often, but my GF will often stay for 7-10 days with some day trips to a place like Bath maybe, but I always jump about at least once as it's just crazy not to.

Budapest might be my favorite city in Europe. I need to get back there and also see more of Croatia...love that country. That's a great trip you have planned.

Never been before but loved Prague and feel like it's going to be similar. Can live like a damn King in Eastern Europe for the same cost it takes to just get by in London/Paris/Dublin.

I went to Prague first, and after never understood why people rave so much about it while neglecting Budapest after I went there. For me Prague felt small, and Budapest is more spread out with a lot to explore and just as nice (in my opinion, but "nice" in a different way). I felt like it was a bombed out Paris - it's not pristine, lacks the pretentious nature because of that, but equally amazing. Plus, you can find some AMAZING AirBnBs for prices that don't make any sense.

Prague is so condensed that if you go at the wrong time of the year the "touristy" areas are a nightmare...I do love Prague though, it's beautiful (in case it seems like I'm trashing the place). :)

Prague might have an edge on beer, and escorts, but otherwise, Budapest all the way for me.

Can confirm that we got a really great looking airbnb in the middle of pest for like 50 or 60 bucks.

I wasn't a huge fan of Budapest because I felt that it was dirty (although I had spent the preceding week in Vienna, so anyplace is a dump compared to Vienna)

I can attest that Budapest is incredibly affordable.

Got an update from United that they moved up my initial flight by 15 mins so that negates any fears barring some delay getting out of Tampa. Trip is in 3 days and spent half the weekend just watching food and travel shows for the Irish countryside and Budapest.

The Irish countryside is AMAZING! Download Sygic for GPS. Budapest is a great and really really cheap city.

If you're in Budapest for a while, take a day trip to Vienna.

Was just in Vienna in Dec. Was pretty crazy seeing the city during Christmas time.

I am heading back to Vienna this summer. I've always been there in July/Aug, but I'd love to visit there for the Christmas markets.

Wife made me do the skating on the fake ice in front of city hall which I was opposed to at 1st because it's ridiculously touristy but everything surrounding it is so beautiful that you can't help but love it.

We can agree to disagree. I've been to quite a few places in Ireland/Europe and Dublin wasn't high on my list. Limerick was one of my favorite Irish towns.

Dublin was just too big/touristy for me. To each their own though.

The "Beanhive" is a great little place. Serves a full irish all day

I'm with you. Dublin reminds me of London in that it is a business town and not a vacation town. If that makes sense.

This is my favorite thread ever. I feel like every time I've ever said Dublin is sort of, "blah," people look at me like I have a third eye. Until now! :)

I would not turn down a free trip to Dublin but for my cash there are least a dozen other places in Ireland I prefer to visit.

Anyone ever visit Cork?

2 days ago. Killarney yesterday and using the wifi at a pub in Galway right now. Not a lot to differentiate the 3 besides Killarney being right on the Ring of Kerry. If I had to pick one to be for a few days or a week I'd probably lean Cork.

Galway is fantastic. Probably one of my 2 or 3 favorite places in Ireland.

I thought that Galway was ok, not great. I actually preferred Limerick

Beamish is certainly my #1 choice wherever I can find it.
Drink like an Irishman: have a Miller Genuine Draft. Had some locals tell us they drink that because they can have 3-4 of those by the time they could drink a Guinness. My brother-in-law, a beer snob, almost had a stroke.

At a Dublin pub on St Paddys a few years ago and made friends with a group of locals in their early 20s. They said they knew we were American because we were drinking Guiness while they had Miller lite & Coronas.

Many bars I've been to in Ireland have Coors Light.

Guinness does seem to be the prevalent beer there though

I took a golf trip in 2016 and we stayed in Killarey, Kindale and Lahinch. Killarney is great and there were so many bars to go too. Heading back in September on another golf trip and we are doing Killarney again as well as Malahide. Cant wait. The Guiness is soo much better there
