Hi everyone! I'm a long time reader of the site, but just had a question to ask.

I'm a new football season ticket holder and my sister works for SUNY ESF, so we'll have access to park in the SUNY ESF lot right next to the Dome for tailgating. That being said, has anyone seen what the tailgating is like in ESF lots? More specifically, right at the end of Sims Dr. near Archibold/Flanagan gyms? Just curious what the atmosphere is like for those who may have parked there before or noticed it while going to games! (map: http://www.esf.edu/maps/images/perspectivelarge.jpg )

Thanks for the help! Go Cuse! Hardnosed!

looks to me like you got 1 of the most coveted spots on campus to tailgate!!

heres the Kaiser's 3=step easy tailgate setup
1. bring a grill. a smokey joe is like $20
2. bring an old couch
3. be the man and buy a satellite http://www.winegard.com/portable-satellite-antennas/manual-portable-satellite-antenna.php

youre not paying for parking anyway, so boom! thats your offset (basically free with the rebate). you can even have somebody else, whos riding with you therefore also not paying for parking, buy a new tailgate specific couch and/or chairs. just have the guy with the pickup truck, also not paying for parking, drive you all.

food/drink is whatever you want to spend.

and finally a hidden #4. enjoy

get r done.

Oh Lord

I'd like to add that all you need to do is set up and people will come. Hopefully you can get a few others near you to set up a nice joint spread. One tailgate at a time.

If SU's "smokers policy" is still liberal you could even head out at halftime for a quick brew and return for the kickoff.

just because i was wondering... why does your sister working at suny -esf give you access to parking?

Because you were wondering (nosey-parker*), we are co-season ticket holders and she will be attending games.

*Which is a saying that should be brought back

BTW, +1 if you are driving in from Albany.

Welcome to the board...feel free to let us know what you are driving and invite some of us to come by and say hi.

Thanks Mark. The legend of your tailgating coverage is well known! (via TNIAAM)

That's a +1 BTW!

It was actually more because I deal with campus parking issues and most people have to have a pass to park on campus and those passes dont usually work on weekends when games are played.. i was just wondering if SU worked differently.

I think where he is parking is actually an ESF lot. Parking at ESF is the best backdoor way to be close to the Dome.

That satellite dish is pretty cool but there is a better one that automatically finds the satellite for you and includes the DVR box as well. All you need is a TV and a power inverter.

You can also get the Dish network on a month to month basis when you buy this unit. I have seen it first hand and may get one myself for this season.

Thanks for the advice on the alternative choice. I was thinking of trying out streaming ESPN, etc. from my phone through an HDMI output cable to a TV before I commit to a dish and satellite. I've read that it's worked for some people, and before Time Warner Cable had it, I was able to do the same at home with the NFL network.

Do a site survey first at the lot and make sure you can get a good view of the south/southwestern sky. (Dish TV Portable Thingie)

One of the better places out there to buy stuff like this...plus good tech support.

that was just a quick google search, but i know its cheap to have and yes, the statellite guy at my tailgate only has his portable active from aug(vacation) through the end of the season.

The company I work for is the exclusive distributor for the tailgater unit, I may be able to sign one out for free instead of actually purchasing one for myself.
