RIP Benny Mardones

He moved to Syracuse, N.Y., shortly after he restarted his career.

“When I was addicted to drugs, Syracuse opened its arms to me,” he told the outlet in 2017. “It gave me my life back. The fans never wavered. The radio stations played my songs."

He eventually called Syracuse his “hometown.”

My uncle was friends with him and performed with him a few times. He's heartbroken.

I was at the Long Branch concert the summer of '83. What an afternoon that was...he rocked the place along with Eddie Money. Ah, back in the day...the Rigatta was also a huge event along Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool.

I was at Roman's one Saturday night, and a guy jumped up on the bar and started singing, and I thought "This guy sounds just like Benny Mardones".

I pushed my way closer to the bar to take a look, and it really was Benny Mardones.

Roman's and Benny Mardones seemed to go hand in hand.

“She’s just 16 years old, leave her alone, they say...”

Yes, Benny, please leave the 16 year old girls alone

Despite the creepy lyrics of the song, it does have a great hook.
