“I’m not Joe Paterno. Somebody didn’t come and tell me Bernie Fine did something and I’m hiding it. I know nothing. If I saw some reason not to support Bernie, I would not support him. If somebody showed me a reason, proved that reason, I would not support him. But until then, I’ll support him until the day I die.”

Out of line, but not out of character
“The case is likely to face difficulty whether a civil lawsuit or criminal charges are brought because the time for filing a lawsuit or prosecuting a crime appears to have passed,” said Suzanne Goldberg, a Columbia University law professor and director of the Center for Gender and Sexuality Law.
“There’s no case here,” said New York University law professor Martin Guggenheim.
“Now what’s happening is the ripple effect,” said Paul Mones, a sexual abuse attorney and children’s rights advocate in Portland, Ore. “Victims around the country are having what is called an anniversary reaction. Victims are feeling more agitated.”
(Davis said he felt bitter emotions after sex scandals emerged in the Catholic Church and, lately, with the allegations and charges against former Penn State defensive co-ordinator Jerry Sandusky.CBC)
On campus, others share Boeheim’s defensive nature, said Robert Thompson, founding director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University.
“From the people I’ve talked to around here, there is a real sense of being disturbed about this story and also a kind of defensiveness which I think we saw at Penn State as well,” Thompson said. “The idea that this surely couldn’t be true and all of that kind of thing, especially given what Boeheim has said.
“It certainly sounds sincere,” Thompson said when asked about Boeheim’s strong denial of the accusations against Fine. “However this goes, this is a bad story. If it all turns out to be untrue, then a bunch of untrue accusations is a really bad story. If it turns out to have truth to it, that’s an even worse story.”

Paul DerOhannesian, defense attorney and former Albany County prosecutor, said the five-year statute of limitations has clearly passed for any crimes in this case if they took place in New York. But any out-of-state incidents during basketball road trips would be subject to the laws of those states, which might not have those limits, he said.

Andre Drummond had a breakout game with 14 rebounds, 11 offensive, and 11 points. If not for horrific free-throw shooting (an ugly 1-for-8, and I do mean ugly), it would have been a stupendous night for the freshman. Calhoun will take the Arinze Onuaku-like free throw shooting, however.
