Here‘s a look at the opponents statistical performance last year
Offense. Only two finished ranked in the top 35, Miami 31, GT 34. Next best UNLV 43. Everyone else 60 or lower. Only one team averaged more than 258 yds passing, Miami. Only one team averaged more than 200 yds rushing - GT. Nobody averaged 35pts a game.
Defense four 25 or better, Miami 24, NCSt 29, VT 20, Ohio 4. 5 98 or worse, GT 123, Stanford 132, UNLV 106, Cal 98, UConn 106.
Bottomline - for the most part facing a bunch of pedestrian offenses and either very good or very bad defenses. Miami is the only team, record aside, that was good on both sides of the ball. VT was solid.
Its already the perception, but overall it’s encouraging for a new staff.
