Schools pausing/cancelling basketball activities...

feel like it will be a minor miracle for any team to avoid at least one shut-down during course of this season

Agree- With the numbers around the country and what has happened so far with a number of teams, I don't have the most optimistic feeling.

the individual players on each team would have to be so disciplined, like monastery stuff... and, well, college kids being college kids...

again just push the sports to march and then see what happens. not so say they can change their minds

I guess it's a lot harder to self control than you would think. Maybe once the schools start their long breaks it might be easier with almost no kids on campus.

That, and fact is, the players could pull off monastery life, and they still might get it.

The NBA and NHL dont get enough credit for what they accomplished
The NBA spent 100 million dollars building a campus in Disney and locking it down.
Those players allowed themselves to be okay with that.

The players couldn’t leave the campus without quarantining the appropriate amount of time.

The players deserve credit for dealing with that rather than the league.
The league made a ton of money that kept the losses down as much as they could but the NBA bubble was feasible because it’s pro sports.
College sports aren’t necessary in a pandemic if it’s unsafe.

You don't think the NCAA makes money? They could pull off a modified version for the CFB playoffs and March Madness.

The NCAA is supposed to be an amateur sports organization. The NBA is a private business.
Labor gets paid in the NBA.
Labor in college gets a education.
The games aren’t necessary for NCAA because it’s amateur sports.

If the NCAA wants to pay the labor then doing a bubble campus makes sense.
Why should basketball players risk their health when nonrevenue sports aren’t.

It’s a pandemic.
The professional sports league did an excellent job because they didn’t want their leagues to fold which without revenue would happen. The NCAA isn’t a for profit business it’s a nonprofit.

I don’t give the NBA credit for doing what they should do to survive which is create a safe environment and make money.

The NCAA doesn’t need to play they can and if the players want to play then fine but putting a bubble together takes the kids out of their campuses. If distance learning is the method of education how can it make sense to make these players play.
The cost the NCAA would spend wouldn’t be returned to the players.

NCAA should take some of that insurance money they got from the 2020 cancellation and give it to conferences to pay for testing.

There’s no way they would stop insuring that to save a few bucks. Right?
