An option to play UConn in the Dome for 2020

CSNBBS poster John Bragg came up with the initial idea and I expanded.

Syracuse Shuffle.
UConn replaces Liberty @ Syracuse, 10/17.
UConn plays @ Liberty, 11/14, replacing FCS Western Carolina
And Liberty plays WCU (2nd FCS game) at home, 10/17 instead of 11/14.

Additionally, I would add Liberty @ Cuse in a few years to replace our lost Liberty game. I would also schedule UConn to an additional 1 for 1 in 5 years (so in effect Cuse gets a 2 for 1).

They have 4 previously scheduled out of conference games over four weeks in September

I don't playing UConn and if it has to include traveling there for a roadie it's an easy trip for those of in the Northeast.

Its contrarian but i actually like the idea of playing the pups.
Its solid Northeast recruiting exposure. We will crush them. Easy road trip.

UConn needs games, period. We need 2 for 1s. I am good with this if we get a 2 for 1 out of it. That is a solution that helps both schools, and gets UConn playing fellow independent Liberty.

Agreed. Unless it's a 2-for-1, I want no part of it.

Which means, of course, SU will sign a home and home with them immediately.

The Florida, Texas and California P5 power teams don't have any problem playing their G5 in state teams. The SEC teams play regional G5 teams very often. Syracuse has some aversion to playing northeastern G5 teams for some parochial reason.

I prefer playing UConn to Liberty.

Liberty is the tougher opponent for sure.

Cuse got a very favorable deal to schedule them. We would be leaving $$ on the table dropping down to a 2 game series.

Am I reading that right? UConn and Rutgers next year.

It’s always more interesting playing old conference mates - rather than the CMU/Liberty’s of the world.

And UCONN is circling the bowl. Which gives me pleasure.

No.

Depending on what happens this year I think we should cancel Colgate and play a blue blood somewhere like Jerry World or Falcons stadium week 1 (and shift the ACC opener to week 3.) That would be amazing. We are set up for an ACC road game week 1 so neutral site vs a better team will likely be a similar level of difficulty. Don't underestimate getting sent to Clemson for TV eyeballs if we play them well again this year.

Uconn doesn't make much sense to play in football unless they agree to buy games. They are essentially Umass. We have never played Umass as a FBS opponent. They also might get someone better than us if they agree to 2 for 1. If those schools can land a blue blood to visit their dumps in return for 2 road games why schedule Syracuse?

UConn is a much better location than playing in remote Amherst. Better stadium too.

We aren't there yet to play a game in TX. ATL maybe. However, we would have to play an opponent that can buy lots of tickets

Syracuse would play UMass at Gillette.
UMass has played its home games against Boston College and Mississippi State at Gillette.
Syracuse wouldn’t play UMass in Amherst it would be Gillette. As UMass would want the additional revenue and home attendance for them to maintain D-1 status.

We don’t need to step foot in CT again unless the contract is a 2 for 1.

We could do the Orlando stadium? The bowl game works in our favor we travelled well. Maybe even week zero like UF - Miami?

Granted I am getting ahead of myself asking for a tougher schedule I just don’t see us getting any credit for road games like WMU and Rutgers so I’d risk a loss to play someone fun.

All jokes aside, we don’t know if UConn will have to drop down to FCS level. I wouldn’t schedule them right now.

They're not. They've announced they are going D1 Independent.
