OiG is in, just waiting for game times to get tix. My 7 year old is super excited. This will be his first game. He's all of a sudden gotten into basketball in the last two weeks.

Anyway, who's planning on going to the game Thursday?

Depending on time I might put some restaurant recommendations here too.

Red Iguana doesn't open till 11am. But you should be okay because I'd be surprised if we don't play at 6pm.

D and I will be at the games, Section 135, Row 15...We'll pass on Red Iguana though. I think it's overrated. There are better Mexican places in town...

Make time for a trip to the top of the LDS administration building. Great view. You need to be escorted.
The Utah State Capitol is also really nice.

Beer Bar is owned by Ty Burrell from Modern Family. I've never been but have friends who have and like it. It's right next to a bougie taco place called Taqueria 27 that I highly recommend. Haven't heard of the other one.

Two other popular pub places near the arena are Red Rock and Squatter's. I'm not a drinker, so I rate on food and Red Rock is a lot better to me than Squatter's when it comes to the menu.

If you're into Brazilian BBQ there's an inexpensive churrasco/rodizio style place in a shopping center called the Gateway very close to the arena called Tucanos.

I also really like a restaurant called Current Fish and Oyster, it's a seafood place but the roast chicken is awesome. Valter's is very popular for nicer dining, Eva's is popular for small plates. Cucina Toscana is popular for Italian but under new ownership from when fans were in town for Butler. The previous owner is now running Valter's. Pretty Bird Chicken is one of those places with a long, long line all the time.

Red Rock is a good place. Squatters is just okay. Food at Red Rock is better than Squatters as is the beer.

If you want to do a REAL SLC brewery, EPIC is my first choice, and Proper is my second. Proper also has the benefit of Proper Burgers right next door. Maybe the best burger in town. Both these are $5 uber rides from down town.

There's beer?

Lots and lots of it. Both great bars with fantastic selections to craft breweries with great selections. Add in that SLC is not big at all, and you can do a lot here...

Yeah I've been meaning to try Proper Burger.

I know the guy a little that started Cheddar Burger, back when he was in the truck. If you like a burger that's a little rare, he delivers.

the general contractor who re-built our ranch is a gonzaga man. told him if he finishes up the last few bits this week we'll send him to slc on saturday & if syracuse wins, i'll join him.

.
my 10 year old got into watching su basketball with me for the first time this year. he rarely sticks with it the whole game, sometimes only for a few minutes, but he watched most of the duke/unc game . . . and asked me "dad, why don't you root for duke instead?"

ouch

My son watched some of the last Duke game with me and out of nowhere said "Duke kinda cheats, huh?"

I'll accept my parent of the year award any day now.

Headmaster & I are leaving Syracuse Wednesday morning around 2:30am & driving to Rochester for a 6am flight to Salt Lake. I think we are arriving around 1pm. Hope to make it to the open practice Wednesday afternoon. If not, will sleep a few hours before meeting others out. Looking forward to a weekend of SU basketball, catching up with good friends & meeting new Syracusefan board members.

Whoa, what are the open practice deets?

Each team usually has an open practice/shoot around the day before the tournament. Nothing big. Lasts about an hour.

Let us know when you get in...I haven’t heard anything yet about a university tailgate, but we can figure out a place for a board meetup...

If I wasn't headed to Spring Training in Arizona this week I would be there...good luck and have fun to all going!
If you hit a Giants home game, go to the Coach House after. Cheap drinks and free hamburgers and brats after game. Just tip the guy.
