Now that the NCAA has passed a package of rules changes including adding a 10th coach, speculation on who we might look at, or more importantly, what position he will come in to coach? The First Team was speculating that 128 new Special Teams coaches will be hired over the course of a few weeks. LOL. May be some truth to that.

Mmmm...what about analysts? Does he get one of those now...you know, to hold over until January 8, 2018?

Can't hire anyone until Jan. 9, 2018.

ME: I can be ready by then, Coach. I bleed Orange, grew up in the area and will work for 75% pay, though I know nothing about coaching football. However, it would be worth the OJT, long hours and dealing with teenagers in exchange for a paycheck, benefits and sideline passes for every game, home and away!

HCDB: Thank you for your interest in the position. We are considering many candidates and will keep you in mind. (Files application/resume in the circular file)

ME: (heavy sigh...)

Steve Gregory. Still lives in the area I think.

Would Rob Drummond ever be interested?

Drummond would be an interesting get, he has been very verbal with slamming the program the last 10 yrs. I assume he is on board with Dino. Would be great ...

From talking to the guy, I can tell he'd be great with players and high school recruits. Great.

You answered your own question. P guy. Too much bad blood there. I would be stunned if he ever had anything to do with Syracuse ever again.

Anytime a coaching position opens (or in this case, is created) it seems that most treat this place like a monarchy that only Syracuse guys can be hired. The safe money is Dino will hire a coach that best suits a position of need that he is familiar with.

That would be sad if he never had anything to do with his alma mater. Btw, Drummond was a Coach Mac guy. He graduated in 1989.

Yeah, but P was an assistant, and he carried a lot of staff over.

Yep. Mac left of his own volition. From what I am told, Drummond was not happy about the way P was shown the door. Along with some other players from that era.

True, however, Drummond has been very anti SU for the last decade! I get it. Problem is, he hammered the program and its coaches publicly for 10 years, has he made inroads since?")

Why do we overly romanticize Orange grads versus focus on how or who a Coach X can get better studs to the 315?

Talent, talent, talent is what this program needs. An ex-player who doesn't need a moving van is the least of all criteria I want as a fan/supporter.
